The Big Board / Re: The Luckiest Man in America on DVD?

Since this is the most recent thread about "The Luckiest Man in America," I'll link this here:

Pressing One's Luck

TV/comic-book writer Mark Evanier on the movie, and PYL in general -- including the fact that Mark Evanier pitched a movie version of Michael Larson's story fairly soon after his appearance as a contestant (and Bill Carruthers had someone in mind to play Michael Larson in the movie at the time).

The Big Board / "Million Dollar Challenge" in 1984?
« Last post by SuperMatch93 on Today at 01:05:09 AM »
I was perusing Broadcasting Magazine articles when I found this curious NATPE listing from Reg Grundy Productions:

https://www.worldradiohistory.com/hd2/IDX-Business/Magazines/Archive-BC-IDX/84-OCR/BC-1984-02-13-OCR-Page-0152.pdf#search=%22sale%20of%20the%20century%22

I'm guessing that "Battle of the Sexes" may have been an early title for Hot Streak, but does anyone have any information on what "Million Dollar Challenge" was?

I've known about this for a while but couldn't say anything until now. Starting in July (just after midnight on July 1 to be exact), the WBTV Funny Favorites channel on Amazon Prime will have the entire first season (1983-84) of Love Connection in their rotation.

I'm not against the hire if Martin doesn't upstage everyone as he's done on other shows. I don't see this being the type of role where he goes into manic Jiminy Glick mode, but you never know.

Visions of Jackie Rogers Jr. and a new "contestant interactive"  star wheel went through my mind when I heard the news.

Chocolate babies?

Just saw a blurb on ROAR (ex-TBD, aka the SNL Rerun Channel) that they will start showing Hollywood Game Night next week starting on 6/30.  And apparently they are showing recent reruns of Weakest Link as well.

I dunno if Eugene Levy or Catherine O’Hara would be considered “too big” with Schitt’s Creek becoming so big in recent years.
Using Wikipedia as a source (I know), O'Hara and Short only overlapped for three episodes of SCTV. Levy and Short did a bit over one year together.

I fear both of them are in the "we don't do game shows" category -- a quick glance at IMDB shows nothing at all for Levy, and just celebrity Millionaire and a Whose Line episode for O'Hara.

A shame neither Neil Patrick Harris or Jason Alexander seem to have been invited back.

It may be that neither found it worthy to fly to Canada to do the tapings. I think we'll still get a nice selection of panelists, but I know some are loyal friends of Martin Short, and of course he knows a lot of people.
