Dunno how many eps. exist but I remember seeing that reruns of Cross-Wits aired on local stations well into the early-80s. IIRC there's an ep. on the circuit that aired on a Dallas (?) station c. 1981-82.

Right there with you on Cross-Wits. Was always a favorite. Would also love to see more episodes of $10K, $20K (pre-1978) and Cullen $25K resurface.

the ones like BFG mentioned where the only evidence it exists is a snapshot of Ken Norton missing a put on Pro Fan? Absolutely.
Technically, there's also this pretty cool relic. I need to save the clip in case that account ever goes under.

While I agree with the whole being grateful business, let's be clear: one can be grateful for the plethora of what's now available while still ruminating, for fun, over what the kid in them still hopes and dreams will pop up next. .
Of course. You're much different than Ian Frame.

I think I would go with pre-1980 Pyramid.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

I'm sure everyone here will agree that if they don"t see what's still on their wish list, c'est la vie, it's still been a ton of fun. Please don't take too far the notion of ungratefulness factoring into the question.

Re: Cross-wits: Jack Clark's version is for sure still around? I was under the impression that the tapes were missing, like Bill's Pyramid.

When I literally hid out in the vault of Metromedia Producers Corporation during an uncertain summer where the fate of the company was in doubt (we were not part of the initial deal with FOX for the stations--our inclusion came months later), and I had access to a wonderful woman who had been in charge of it since the mid-70s, she told me that the master tapes had been returned to Edwards and the location of whatever bicycled copies were sent to stations were unknown.

What you likely saw in Dallas was one of those copies from a season that somehow never fully sold into the market that all of a sudden became desirable when new independents signed on during the early 80s, and just about anything that still could be played back on film or videotape was licensed.

I did discover the pilots for RODEO DRIVE, MOUTH TRAP and PUNCH LINES long before we got to see them and several episodes of DEFINITION--apparently MPC had had some discussions with Nicholson-Muir about an American version, or at least distributing the Canadian episodes in the US, when SUPER PAY CARDS! was up and running.  I was familiar with the show having gone to college in an upstate New York border town and I urged the management I reported into to at least explore the chance to roll out the CTV episodes to stations to improve our chances of staying employed.  Let's just say I was laughed out of the room.

I don't know about Cross-Wits, but I've been told multiple times by reliable folks that master recordings of the entire run of Bill's Pyramid DO exist, but the owners don't want to go to the effort and expense of converting them.

After seeing The Big Showdown episode that recently dropped, I'm fascinated by the game and would love to see more.

My long-time position has been that the original Split Second and Three on a Match are two of the best game shows that have ever existed that have had the misfortune of being lost.  If I had to cap it at three, those would be my picks.

If I can add more, I join the choruses for the original Sale of the Century, Jackpot and ABC Password.

If I'm allowed to add something we know exists but just hasn't gotten the rerun treatment, then seasons 4-10 of The Price Is Right, especially 1977-1979.

I don't know about Cross-Wits, but I've been told multiple times by reliable folks that master recordings of the entire run of Bill's Pyramid DO exist, but the owners don't want to go to the effort and expense of converting them.

I recall Adam saying the whereabouts of the tapes are unknown, and that is also part of the problem, unless I misremembered.
It was a golden age of daytime network television... Game Shows... Hosted by people who actually knew that the game was the star... And I wish it was still that way - both that game shows were on all morning and that they were hosted by actual game show hosts. - Bob Purse, Inches Per Second

Now that I’ve had a chance to think it over, I’d add the Kelly/Garagiola-era of $ale.

Also, I loved the obscure pilots that turned up in the last year or so. One in general I’d love to see is The Letter Machine, which apparently became The $1M Chance of a Lifetime. And maybe Cash on the Line.

especially "Cross-Wits" (in CW's case, the tapes apparently *do* exist....they've just been sitting there doing nothing).

I don't know about the masters, but in a 2016 Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD bonus feature about screenwriter Steven E. de Souza, he mentions his appearance as a contestant on The Cross-Wits, which is accompanied by a few seconds of footage.

The video quality implies it's a home recording (I'm guessing it came from Mr. de Souza). Somebody made an entry for the episode on IMDb, but I don't know whether this is an episode that's out in the wild. If it isn't, at least there's evidence a home copy exists.

Since only about half the GONG run has surfaced since 1997, that would be my choice.

All together now--"of course it would!"
