Noticed something on MG76 yesterday

What's up with the think music on MG76 yesterday evening at 6:30 EST?  The music cues they used on the show were hella different.  It sounded like a 70's porno.  I only caught part of the show so if they had a reason for it I missed it.

Erm... is there something that separates 1970's porno music from other porno music?

Melman1,

Sorry, I didn't read that thread because the topic for the thread had nothing to do with my question dealing with music and Match Game 76.

Tommy,

I have no idea what differences there are.  I don't even watch pornos.  When I heard those songs I just happened to think that for some reason.

At no time in a Cheyenne Silver motion picture is a Match Game '76 cue used. Nor was one used when she performed in downtown Cleveland at The Gold Horse last month.

So she upgraded to the MG'98 cues, then?

MG 76 experimented with a lot of think music cues (some reportedly from The Money Maze) but only a couple of "new" cues actually stuck, while the others were retired. CNR and Gene would often comment on what they thought of the cues.

One of the think musics actually had the audience clapping along (perhaps because Gene liked it so much) so that one definitely stayed.

Is this where the long-time running "cowbell" cue was born?  Or did this come later.

I liked that CNR quite frequently joked about the show's theme - calling it "lousy" several times on the air.  I guess he didn't carry too much clout though - because the theme stuck throughout its whole run!

The first few months of MG76 aired on "Match Game Mondays" last year.  I don't think ANY of the experimental think music (the various swami / Persian / porno stuff) was kept.  I don't think the cowbell was introduced at that time but I could be wrong.

I think many game show hosts have openly criticized themes for their respective shows on air.  Part of it I think is the comedic effect but there's probably some legit feelings there as well.

Actually, a retail store I worked for for two years played the same CD over and Over and OVER again and they NEVER changed it.  After a while, I was calling all of these songs "dreaded" and "lousy."
