Randy's on again... hopefully they don't butcher it this time.

They didn't.

Nice to see, even though I (and I'm sure most of us) knew what happened.....

Saw that episode Sunday night. Randy had 71 seconds. That's the most time I recall anyone having going against the villains.

(no show on October 3, 1979, due to CBS News coverage of the Pope's visit to the U.S.)
...

Whew! 79_0130 (original airdate 10/30/1979)
Whew! 79_0131 (original airdate 10/31/1979)
(no show on November 1, 1979, due to November Magazine)
Whew! 79_0132 (original airdate 11/2/1979)

I think we may have a numbering discrepancy. Wink has uploaded 131 and 132 to YouTube, with slates to corroborate the episode numbers.

In episode 132, Tom references being preempted "tomorrow" for Magazine, and also mentions today being Halloween.

The only way I can see to resolve this would be if 113 aired October 3, but only on the West Coast, or if it was skipped.

Thoughts?

I would imagine that It was either skipped or just shown on the west coast. I think, now a days, if there is breaking news on the East Coast, then TPIR is still shown. I think it is only skipped if the breaking news takes out both airings.

Only reason I have 10/3/79 marked as a pre-emption is because, according to the Golden-Road.net timeline, TPIR was pre-empted that day, and where Whew! and TPIR were back-to-back, I figured they'd both be affected.

I detected an edit while the champion was at villain #2 in today's bonus round. I wasn't watching closely enough to see whether the clock jumped (meaning it was a Buzzr edit) or whether it was an original 1979 edit. Did anybody see specifically what occurred?

It looks original, as there was a third buzz and only less than a second was actually edited.

Was there a skipped episode?  On Today's episode Tom made mention of a Gwendolyn on the last episode but that's not at all who was on last Friday...

If you go back a few pages into the thread: Buzzr had issues last week. Friday's show (092) actually ran the preceding Monday (when Randy's gauntlet win was supposed to air). 88 (Randy wins) through 91 ran Tuesday-Friday.

They're back in order now; today was show 93.

Ah, gotcha, thank you for the clarification!!  I had assumed that Buzzr would have re-aired that episode when it was supposed to on its proper day but I can see why they'd just say "screw it" and skip it.  Looks like I'll need to catch that one in the future.

That's what I was hoping. So assuming my DVR got those streams, I should be able to process last week's recordings and only have three screwy shows.

Only one screwy show, since there were no problems with Thursday or Friday.
