Here's the short dialog that I had with the Family Feud Twitter person over the last couple days-

Me: Wait...you guys have a new set this season?
Family Feud: of course!
Me: So is this new set a retro throwback as well, or are you just teasing us, lol?
Family Feud: not a "retro throwback"...but very nice. especially the floor!

And yes, in hindsight, I realized the "retro throwback" term was redundant. Nonetheless, unless the FF Twitter-er is an idiot or a liar, it looks like we have a brand new set....or re-imagining, rather.

If it's what I think it is, and it's a floor that changes colors just because it can, then I'm not sold. But then again, it might not be that. Can't wait to see what they have in store, though. If I remember correctly, they start taping this weekend, and it'd be cool to get a Youtube tease or two like what they did when O Hurley became host.

Anything is better than the current format, where you can nail all 5 number ones and get nothing more than $800 for your efforts. Even my dad rants about how impossible the bonus round is when the #1's are worth 20-23-26 points.

Cash payouts that looked fine thirty years ago can seem outright chintzy in 2010. Not that I'm saying Feud needs an injection of Mo' Money, but you're allowed to make at least a token gesture toward inflation once every couple decades or so.

/Also, I'd rather say 'Each person on the team gets $290' than 'We'll give you $5 per point, for a total of $1,450'

Regardless of whether the actual round was won or not ($500 if it wasn't, anywhere from $5K-$15K if it was), five #1's in DR meant $1000 ($2000 for a week in 12/07).

Besides, being in Orlando this season, the odds are that you won't have to pay that many people to be an "audience member". So upping the consolation prizes a tad should be a wash anyways. And I'd much rather be giving money to people who are actually playing the game than paying people to ooh, ahh, and applaud every 30 seconds.

Buzzerblog's got the first new set pic....it looks like there are a few alterations, but basically the same as last season. I wasn't a big fan of the audience in the round, so I'm glad that's gone. The new podiums look kinda short, but the stage looks like it could be blocked to use the board scoreboards for a change. It also looks like they're using the long family signs from Celebrity Family Feud.
