That was something I noticed about Lange's version as well. A lot of songs that seemed to be popular in the 1940s and '50s. Oddly enough, I remember one Lange episode where the contestants were stumped by YMCA. I guess people were still trying to forget about disco in 1984. :P

I was not around when the 40's and 50's standards were first heard on radio, but I became most familiar with them because I watched a lot of Warner Brothers cartoons growing up.  Many of those songs used on the show appeared often in the Merry Melodies and Loony Tunes shorts that were rerun nearly every day of the week, so most of those songs were recognizable even to us smaller fry at the time.

You made that assumption...based on one song...from one promo?

Just admit you hate game shows and move on.

I hate game shows?

Really...

The person who once had the largest private game show video archive hates game shows...

Suuuuurrrrrrre...okay...

And, not that I owe you any explanation or further information, I have already changed my opinion based on the longer promo...

Weird flex on the archive, but okay.

Clearly you (now) know that posting an opinion of a show based on a :15 promo with no footage is premature, hence why you changed your opinion. Maybe wait it out before you negatively judge a show next time, son.

"son"?

Get a grip...

It looks promising!

But I do want to ask (not just from the conversation on this board) Why are so many people upset that they will be using modern songs? I mean, its 2020 (ok, almost 21) they should be doing hit songs. One of the BIGGEST issues with the Lange version is how it looks dated even for mid-80s standards. They once had the band do "I just Called to say i love you" that was almost unrecognizable.

It's like people who complained about the live action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies because "they cover modern 2000s songs, unlike MY Alvin and the Chipmunks, which covered...modern 80s songs!"

/Of course Alvin Show fans were the real winners, as they mostly did standards anyway.
//And modern music was the least of the movie franchise's problems.
