Steve Harvey Best Answer Challenge
« on: December 31, 2018, 03:36:20 PM »
Time to face facts.

It's the number one game show in syndication the most weeks each year for at least 5 years running.
He's not far away from being the longest tenured American Feud host, and he's not going away anytime soon.
He is a comedian hosting a game show propelled by unintentionally honest, hilarious answers, just like everyone that came before him, and no matter what the material actually is.

With all that said, we all know that not everything during Harvey's time to date is purposely raunchy and all that. There have been plenty of off-the-wall answers just as worthy of VH1 clip show special as "September", "alligator" and all the others. And here, that list will be compiled.

Only rules: Name one at a time. Don't repeat.

I will start with Steve's first big answer: Naked Grandma.

Time to face facts.
You can "face the facts" all you want. I find the show borders on unwatchable for the most part and therefore pass it by.

Until next time, I'll be in my balcony.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

From a Face-Off...
Steve: "What might a blind date conveniently forget to mention about himself?"
Contestant's response: "He's blind."

Yes, should've said to give the question. I didn't recognize a couple on answer alone.

Still a fan of:

A word or phrase beginning with pot.
"Potato"
And it scores!

(PS: I've ticked off some purists. Knew I would. Don't care.)

Who's a purist?

Null set.  It has nothing to do with purists or the conspiracy that anything new is crap.  He's not funny.

Honest truth here: First time I've heard anyone say that. And I'm glad to hear it because it's a perfectly fine opinion to have, and I don't think it gets said often enough in context, hence the "conspiracy" and my rant about it at the start of this thread.* **

Here's the hook: Focusing solely on the host, who I get is the one constant every time you watch, makes us lose sight of the fundamental game show truth that he/she is not the star. The game and the contestants are. How Steve, Richard or anyone else chose to react to the answers the way that they do is irrelevant, they wouldn't have reacted in the first place if the answer wasn't so off-the-wall to begin with. (Come to think of it, as I wrote this, O'Hurley's era answers have never been discussed, either, but another day, another time.) So, to bring this back to topic, there have to be SOME answers that actually make you forget about who the host is and just marvel in the wonder of "what did they just say?" I simply want to know here what they are, because some of us here are in fact watching. If you don't, this topic is not for you.

So, let's have 'em.

(* - I'm not about to go searching for all the other instances it may or may not have been said before, and without it, too often is the "conspiracy" vibe felt. I'll stop here because I'll be here forever.)

(** - Eberle, you and me have to talk on the side.)
