Buzzr's Betty White Christmas
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:12:08 AM »
Just got this in my email from Buzzr, detailing a bit more about Buzzr's plans from an earlier post:

The Countdown to Christmas starts here!
It's a Betty White Christmas ...

From Match Game to Tattletales, and To Tell The Truth, tune-in nightly starting Dec. 14th, 8 – 11pm, for 12 DAYS of Give-aways! And make your Christmas a #BettyWhiteChristmas with an all day marathon on Dec. 25th!

Be sure to watch  for the Daily Code during the 12 Days for your chance to win BUZZR goodies and prizes. Or go to our Facebook page or BUZZRplay.com for the code and Enter to Win!

No description of how many or what shows will be played on the 25th, or if it will be a smaller block(s) rerun again later on Christmas, but it's a great promotion that not too many people will be able to see.

Currently, Zap2It listings are showing the following:

Mon 12/14 through Thurs 12/17:
8-9pm Match Game x 2
9-11pm TTTT x 3

Fri 12/18 and Mon 12/21:
8-9pm Match Game x 2
9-10pm Tattletales x 2
10-11pm Body Language x 2

Sat 12/19 and Sun 12/20:
8-11pm Match Game x 6

Also looks like the Pick n Play block will take a break that week.

I think the press release was saying that the giveaways will occur during the existing primetime shows and the specific Betty White episodes will be on the 25th only.  Of course there may be a BW episode or two that may pop up in the regular primetime rotation prior to the 25th.

Given that BL is one of those shows they don't usually run in prime-time, I'd think the whole point is to show some episodes with BW.  (And likely to be from the 2/4-8/85 week, which Buzzr just jumped back to.)

I find it funny that the promo for the upcoming near-fortnight says "12 Days, 6 Decades." Does that mean that they're going to show 90's and 00's shows with Betty in them and even then what would they be?

Was she on Match Game '98? I know of FF '94 and TTTT '90.

And then for the 2000's, was she on TTTT '00? Or would they show Million Dollar Password?

Are there other G-T/Fremantle shows she was on in the last 25 years that I'm not thinking of?

Me: Of all of the game shows you've hosted besides Jeopardy!, like High Rollers or Classic Concentration, which is your favorite?
Alex Trebek: I'd have to say To Tell The Truth, because it was the first time in my career that I got to sit down while I was hosting.

98% sure the answer to those two are no.

Per Marshall Akers' panel guide and episode guide, Betty was never on the 2000s TTTT as either panelist or subject.

(Slight edit to change "guest" to "subject", since she was an impostor at least once way back in November '67.)

[EDIT 12/20/15: Clarified when Betty was an impostor, since I realized my previous wording could be construed as her having been an impostor on the O'Hurley version.]

Buzzr sent me the schedule, and there's nothing on it that hasn't already been seen on Buzzr.

Every weeknight through Christmas Eve has an hour of Match Game 78 at 8PM.

From Dec. 14-17, three episodes of TTTT from the early 60s air at 9PM.

The rest of the weekdays have 1974 Tattletales at 9PM and either Body Language or Super Password at 10PM.

December 19 and 20 have primetime marathons of Match Game 78.

December 25 is Match Game 78 all day until 9PM and the rest of the night is filled with B&W To Tell the Truth.

Thought about this for a bit and double-checked some traders' collections...and sure enough, Betty was on Trivia Trap and Wordplay, two shows that were up for voting with that "Pick & Play" sweepstakes a couple months back.

This would've been a good opportunity to bring those out, although it's likely they never digitized the tapes of the episodes she appeared on.

Has anyone else been keeping track of what they are airing for this stunt?

So far, we have seen:

MG 78 - 1141-1145, 1156-1158 (with 1159-1160 to air tonight, presumably)
TTTT - 12/18/61, 12/4/61, 11/20/61, 10/9/61, 4/24/61, 4/10/61, 1/2/61 and five others for which I am seeking someone to fill in the blanks.

TTTT - 12/18/61, 12/4/61, 11/20/61, 10/9/61, 4/24/61, 4/10/61, 1/2/61

In reverse order? That Buzzr always be trollin'.

Does it? I mean, I've grown tired of the constant posts in the main thread about the repeating lineup, but I can't be totally upset here. The promo they put out specifically said "12 Days, 6 Decades", implying that the marathon was going to have a wider breadth than it ended up having.

Also, while those who do have the network should be grateful for what they have, a game show network that doesn't have the restrictions of time, and the fact that they have it at all (I'm currently in a market sandwiched between two that do carry it), I can understand their frustration with it after having Fremantle hype up how vast their library is.
