At what point in the run of Password Plus did Rich Jeffries replace Gene Wood as announcer?

I believe you're thinking of Super Password (since Rich Jeffries never announced P+).

Anyways, Gene Wood replaced Jeffries on SP (not the other way around) in early 1985.

Well, I was going by The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows, Vol. 3 when I posed my question. There, Jeffries is listed as having announced P+.

I just went to Travis's Super Password page, and it says that John Harlan also announced, but he was a sub-announcer.

In addition, I went to David Livingston's Super Password page, and it says that Bob Hilton and Johnny Olson were also sub-announcers.

Gene Wood was the primary announcer, but Harlan, Hilton, and Olson were the sub-announcers.

But I didn't think that Rich Jeffries would announce P+, but if he did, then I believe you guys.

The only show I knew he announced was SP.

Harlan, Olson, and Hilton subbed on P+. Only Rich Jeffreys and Gene Wood ever did SP.

Saw that on both those pages, respectively.

At David's SP page, it says that Rich Jeffries announced for the first few weeks (And the Christmas shows are included, see my Game Shows on Christmas Day thread).

After that, in came Gene Wood.

And I think I saw at Chris Lambert's ALL-Password page, that Gene Wood announced on all 3 versions of Password. Am I right, or did I misread?

Rich is/was an actor who had done primarily stage work, iirc. Sharing hours on the set he and Gene Wood became friends, and Gene coached and groomed Rich for announcing work. Although never a sterling announcer for my tastes, Rich was a really nice guy; I wonder where he is now.

I don't know anything about "Blank Check", but I used to date a black chick. Is that close enough? Certainly our grand high exhaulted mystic co-ruler Chris must have crossed paths with Rich at GT.

I liked his announcing style, but most agree that his voice was rather unusual-sounding (something like a cross between Jay Stewart and Bullwinkle).

Rich was also a freelance lighting director for commercials, around the time he was working for Goodson/Todman.
