This press release arrives with a bit of dread. I fear we're not going to have too much game play in these episodes. Yes, it will be nice to see Doug Van Gundy, but I just hope this doesn't turn into a talk show love-fest without many questions.

Every episode will be an hour long, correct?

This is the point of the timer clock, to rush you through the questions to get to the talkie parts.

Yes, every episode is an hour long.

The release also gave a list of all former contestants visiting the show.  Given that Nancy Christy will the only former contestant from the syndie version appearing (it probably would only make sense since she has been the only woman to date that has answered all 15 questions for $1 million), I'm guessing that Meredith is going to be the celebrity contestant on the same night (August 23rd, the final night of the run).  That might serve as a good plug for the upcoming 8th season of the syndicated version.

The point of the timer is to speed up production and lower overall costs of producing the show.  The excuse to make fans happy was to speed up gameplay allowing for more questions, however, the average questions per show dipped this season as there was more time taken in between questions.
From this OP's link to the press release:
Robby Roseman, Las Vegas, NV first person to lose on the first question, winning nothing
That's the one I want.
ADDED IN EDIT: Oh, he's not an expert. He'll be visiting. Terribly sorry for the misunderstanding. What a great guest idea. I can see this going down the love fest road alluded to earlier. Perhaps with some special added surprises which will really be klunks.
The best way to salute the game is to play the game.

I would definitely trust Roseman's advice on poker. :)

/He won $500,000 on a WSOP: Main Event a couple years ago, didn't he?

Too bad they are having the timer.  It was so dramatic with Regis, and now he won't be able to be dramatic and draw things out.

I'm wondering what type of question "Activist and radio host Rev. Al Sharpton" would be beneficial on.

I feel the same way. Regis' bantering is what made Millionaire popular, at least to an extent. I've got tickets to the August 3rd late afternoon taping. Please don't let Al Sharpton be on that show.
