No, it isn't... as I'm sure John would've looked there before asking.

Is "Treasure Hunt (81)" the same as "The New Treasure Hunt"? If not, then I stand corrected.

Ok, I'm wrong. Sorry. I just thought I saw "Wipeout" on 80stvthemes, but I was thinking of "Word Play".

They're different themes, but I have seen the 80s theme somewhere...it was a .wav of the closing, complete with applause. I want to say Matt Kaiser's site, but don't hold me to it.

Nevermind, found it:

Here's one I did myself a while back, arranged a bit closer to how it would have been released:

In respons to the following question that was asked by "Whoserman" in this thread on 10-26-2003:

Quote
Is "Treasure Hunt (81)" the same as "The New Treasure Hunt"?

"The New Treasure Hunt" theme on the 80stvthemes.com site is supposed to be the closing theme to the show, and even that one seems to have a slightly different musical arrangement from the version that I remembered being used for the closing theme to the '70s version of TH.

As a matter of fact, the actual name of the file on the site is "DGSPOT.ra", which suggests that it was once used on The Dating Game, which was also a Chuck Barris production.

(Only women were allowed to be contestants on Barris' Treasure Hunt?  The folks I work for won't like that!)

I'm pretty sure they're one in the same...and the version you hear on the SuperSite was actually taken from a late '70s album entitled "Chuck Barris Presents Themes From TV Game Shows", if that makes a difference.

They sound the same to me.  If anything, maybe the version used on "Treasure Hunt" was a bit slower, but it's still the same piece of music.  And it was used on "Dating Game".  During the '78-80 syndicated version, it was used going to commercial as the first game ended.

"Dating Game" did use the classic "Treasure Hunt" closing theme as a commercial bumper music during its late 70's run.

The 1980's "Treasure Hunt" music was by Milton DeLugg and was originally from an unsold pilot for a revival of "Dollar A Second".

Another theme that I want to know is if there is a Love Connection Theme out there in the circuit?  The original 1983 - 1992 theme..
