Which show is this?
« on: June 13, 2007, 11:51:03 AM »
First post, Hi everyone!

I'm thinking of a game show that I seem to remember watching years ago, but I can't think of the name of it, and I figured I'd ask the game show scholars of this forum.  All I remember about it is that it added money to the players' scores after each round.  I know it's not the Money Cards from Card Sharks (add $200/$400 on each level), because I watch that on GSN every day, and it I think I remember it being a straight quizzer.  Can anyone help me out?

Do you remember an approximate time frame?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

That's actually what I was trying to think of when this show popped into my head.  I can't figure it out...

If you're thinking early '90s, could it be "The Challengers?"  Didn't they start everybody off with $200 after a while?  And, it definitely was a straight quizzer.

That didn't add money to player's scores after each round.

And that really wasn't a straight quizzer...

You remember anything else?

Nope. But I'm not the one trying to solve this problem. If the OP could, you know, actually give us something other than "players got money" (which might not even be 100% accurate), maybe I could help.

Which a) wasn't "years ago" (not even three years does not deserve that qualifier, anyhow), b) played for points and not money, and c) wasn't ANYTHING CLOSE to a straight quizzer.

But, glad to help.

(And maybe I'm being curmudgeonly, but the religious proselytizing in your signature really rubs me the wrong way.)

Well, as I said in my first post, I couldn't exactly remember what show it was, but from what little I did remember, it seemed like it would've been a quizzer from a good few years back.  Thanks for helping anyways. :)

Two out of three anyway.  Three is more than one.  "Years" is correct. Possibly misleading for those of us who think in terms of eras, but Balderdash did, in fact, air "years" ago.

A newbie who took the time to learn some of our inside jokes and knows how to -- for lack of a more secular phrase -- "turn the other cheek".  I'm impressed.

Me too. I still don't think it's appropriate, but maybe that's my own hang-up and I'll get over it. Opinions can be respected on both sides.

I'm certainly not going to complain because I can turn off signatures if I want to, and someone saying "This is a spiffy Bible passage, and you ought to read it" is fairly mild, compared to "ALLAH AKBAR YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE SCRABBLE AND SALE OF THE CENTURY ARE BEING BOGARTED BY GSN JUST TO TAUNT THE FANS ALL YOUR BASES LOADED BELONG TO US"

Or something. Wow. That spiraled out of control in a hurry. Anyway, I don't have a problem with it. Is the problem more that it pertains to religion at all, or one that you don't follow?

I realize that it's a shock to people that someone has come here, lurked, and not done any of these: asinine font changes for no good reason, providing a link with no context, typing whatever jumps into their head and trying to actually dictate to the moderators, but shouldn't we expect that new members do what our New Guy did, rather than be surprised when people follow the rules?
