What we have learned from The Price is Right
« on: June 01, 2007, 06:24:13 AM »
I saw a video on Youtube about "what we have learned from Star Wars" and that inspired me to start this thread. Feel free to add on.

1- Spaying or neutering your pet will help control the pet population
2- Be weary of anyone named Dian
3- If you come on down, and they come on out, people will be talking about you for several years to come.
4- Samoans like to pick up game show hosts
5- If a woman 10 times your size comes screaming at you, it's best to run for you life.
6- If you do audience participation shows better than anything else, it'll last you a good 50 years.
7- The Range Game cannot be started again for 37 hours
8- If you tell Bob he's handsome, he'll give you all the air time you want
9- Bidding $420 probably will not win you any prizes, it'll only make millions of people roll their eyes in disgust.
10- When you retire, it might not be a bad idea to take up bodybuilding and run for governor of California.
11- Don't ask Roger if it's the "first time it's ever happened". He'll only agree with you to save from embarassment.

Heck, I'll play.

12- Zeros are last. (When dealing with scrambled numbers, that is.)
13- Ones are also last, or should be. (In Contestant's Row, that is.)
14- When your time on stage is limited, take others' advice sparingly, if at all.
15- Turn around and give us your bid already.

Yeah, I tried to make all of mine sound close to "real" advice.
2- Be weary of anyone named Dian
While I'm sure ol' Barker did get weary, If You Know What I Mean, he should have been wary of her, too.

Personally, a woman 10x my size would implode.

6- If you do audience participation shows better than anything else, it'll last you a good 50 years.
...especially if you adopt Jack Benny's speech pattern.

7- The Range Game cannot be started again for 37 hours.
(This actually happened when I was in the audience in '91; the stoppage didn't seem like 37 hours, but I may have dozed off...)

16- Bloopers make great YouTube clips.
17- Learn every game before you go on the show, because you'll probably get one you don't know.
18- Bob Barker likes surprises.
19- Showcases may not be that expensive.

* Time is elastic. Even ordinary people can make ten seconds last practically forever.

I tried.  (That's the a-hole who cheated in Flip Flop.)

Even though you've seen Check Game all your life, you still don't know how to play it.

And something I learned today on Price:
Even though you slept with half the audience, you're still not guaranteed a win.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins came back from the dead and was a contestant today?

(Or Wilt Chamberlain* or Shawn Kemp or Bob Barker or...you get the point.)

* Just like Francisco Franco--still dead.

Um, I GIS'd for a picture of Bob Barker and a celebrating contestant.

Sometimes verite goes out the window in the name of comedy.
