Jeopardy! Story Reaches the NY Post
« on: June 15, 2004, 08:55:05 AM »
The Ken Jennings saga has become noticed by Michael Starr of the NY Post.

Starr name checks tvgameshows.net and quotes Steve Beverly's ranking of Jennings and even mentions the 9 couples who won $1million on "The $1 Million Chance of a Lifetime".

WHat he might mean by "Still there" is that he's still on the shows that's airing. One person knows for sure if he's appeared on all the taped shows through now, and he ain't saying :)

That makes me wonder if Ken Jennings will likely be a 6-week holdover untill the new season starts September 6.

I wonder if he'll break the $500,000 mark...or for that matter, the $1 million mark.

You shouldn't have to...we apparently have clarivoyants among us who, with absolutely no evidence to back them, believe that he will.

$500K would only take to next week.

If he gets to 30 shows, he'll be right about at a million -- and what a promo opportunity for that it would be...

That has me thinking here.  I thimk this might be a good promo bit:

"This past season, you saw a software engineer by the name of Ken Jennings break all kinds of records on Jeopardy! BUT... he's not finished yet.  See how far he'll go when the new season begins in September where the sky's the limit on JEOPARDY!"

He's got an incredible feel for the buzzer, he has a trashcan full of knowledge, and as we saw on the 6/17 show sometimes he will buzz in and then think of the answer. So he's more daring in that regard than anyone who's played the game in the Trebek era...his mindset is more like an Art Fleming player.

And he paces himself wonderfully most nights, usually wrapping up the game by the time DJ is halfway over. And even if another player hits a DD, they can't catch up anyway, and in truth they don't even try.

If he does get to a million, I think it will probably be the hardest million ever earned on a TV game show.
