* "Hollywood Dave" as dealer could be very painful. A shame they didn't pony up some cash to brink Tiki along for the ride.
I agree that Tiki is a delightful young lady, but I'm thinking with the game-showy elements that they are bringing to this show, Stann might be an entertaining adversary. Besides, he's such a jackass that it'll make it that much more satisfying to watch the celebs beat him.
Although this "Celebrity Blackjack" game seems to be interesting enough, my own suggestion would be to simply have the players play "Pontoon," a variant of the casino blackjack game that would seem to require as much in the way of skill and judgement as Texas Hold'em Poker does.
I love how you preface that with "simply", and then follow with a 13-step  explanation of the rules, which could have been boiled down to: dealer rotates among the players and wins all pushes, dealer is allowed to hit and stand at their whim, blackjack pays at 2-1, even to the dealer, five-card-under pays 2-1 to non-dealers, and goofy-ass novelty 21s pay off at goofy-ass novelty odds.

And comparing a dealer playing their own blackjack hand to Hold 'Em is an insult to poker.

Let's see if this version shows up on GSN at any time in the future.
Pardon me while I don't hold my breath.

I still fail to see why this would be a bad thing. Did anyone watch Wanda Sykes take apart Jerome Bettis last night on Celebrity Poker? He gave as good as he got, and it was good TV.

I'm not a particularly big fan of either one of them individually, but I would pay cash money to see a Wanda Sykes-Travis Tritt tour like they were joking about all night.

Speaking of "all night", these two-hour shows do tend to go on and on, don't they?  Personally, I love it because I love to see the interaction.  But I can see some people complaining about the length.

Cheap programming, though!
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
My first thought is that they actually did a decent job with celebs... most of them I recognize!  Kudos to GSN.

And from me too...though for a more specific reason, which I've annoyed just about everyone with the past few months.  My "quest" is completed (albeit on a different show), you happy now????
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.

Every once in a while, I look through my Encyclopedia of Card Games for something good, and I stop and look at Pontoon.  And every single time, I think to myself, why would you play this instead of playing straight blackjack?  Everyone knows how to play blackjack, you don't have to learn any new rules.  Michael, I suspect you simply like to see whatever you typed show up on screen, and it's really annoying.

As to Celebrity Blackjack, they could have simply said, "we're just going to let celebrities play 21, and see what happens."  That would have been hugely boring.  A rare compliment to GSN for taking an idea while it's hot, and tweaking it to make it palatable.  Hope to see more of same, guys.
