Ebay Finds 6/14/26

Lot of four photos for Celebrity Sweepstakes, including one for the $100,000 Shamrock Sweepstakes.  The same seller has a bunch of other lots of photos including $otC with Jim Perry and Alex Trebek/High Rollers.  $2.99/each.  I will highlight this Trebek/High Rollers lot--it's specifically for when they changed the format to removing puzzle pieces to show a celebrity.

Don't think the item itself is notable, but this 1959 ticket for TPiR states contestants are chosen from the audience.  I don't think I knew that.

Something slightly different from last time I posted this...a ticket for something called Jay Stewart Fun Fair.  Much like the other ticket, puppies are prominently mentioned.

Picked from the audience in the manner that they interviewed audience members for future shows.
Portions of this post not affecting the outcome have been edited or recreated.

Quizmaster went into that a little, for daytime game shows back then I don't imagine there was a lot in the audition process other than do you know the rules, can you play the game capably (TPIR was fairly simple as games go) so rather than having lots of testing to see if someone can get close to the price of a Thunderbird pick three people, get them acclimated and away you go.

I believe I heard on a $20,000 Pyramid show that Dick said some contestants were drawn from the audience as well. I think with stakes and difficulty the audition process became more intricate

If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

TPIR did have to make sure players from the audience were properly enthusiastic to avoid what happened in the Mad magazine satire.
