I thought it a bit odd to run a truncated tournament even if the show couldn't round up forty new victims, but if it is going to be a nine game bracket I liked it being one game a week. Did the show abut a ratings period, turn over of new shows....squidge together and burn off due to lack of interest?

No, actually, that's how it was stripped from the get-go. When the tournament microsite launched on Jeopardy.com, the full schedule was presented, inclusive of this past week's stripped scheduling. The site was then pulled and replaced with "TBDs" for the semi-final and final rounds, until ABC formally released their summer programming schedule.

Ratings have been relatively steady, demo/viewers:

Interesting--I know the GOAT rodeo changed things midstream, but if they went to have the entire semis and championship in one week and the ratings bore it out, mazel tov.
