Worlde coming to NBC...now where have I seen that before?
« on: May 11, 2026, 09:33:49 AM »
From NBC's 2026-27 season pree release:
"An avid "Wordle" player, "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie will serve as host of the primetime gameshow. The new format challenges players to solve five-letter word puzzles in a supersized battle of smarts, speed and fun. It builds on the way the puzzle community engages with Wordle every day - solving together, sharing wins, debating strategies and cheering one another on. Now, that style of play comes to life as the most-obsessed and competitive players will team up in squads and go head-to-head in the "Wordle" arena, playing for an incredible cash prize."

It wouldn't be the first time a popular game show format was "borrowed"; how many versions of Password were there at one point?

Filming in Manchester, England, because new network game shows are not allowed to be made domestically.

I seriously don't get how this one clears the lawyers.

I mean, they already have the set pieces for a 5-letter-word game show there. No need to make more.
This signature is currently under construction.

It's going to have 3-player teams, thus making it completely different from any show with 2-player teams.
