Help solving a game show/music mystery
« on: February 20, 2026, 11:55:28 PM »
A mutual acquaintance on Facebook posted a memory of playing in a band who once accompanied a singer who also hosted a game show. His wife was the sister of songwriter and Capitol Records co-founder Johnny Mercer, and the charts he gave to the band were apparently written by Mercer himself.

Anyone able to identify who this could have been? I did find an obit for Mercer's sister, but no husband was mentioned, and no other info on whether he had any other siblings.

According to Ancestry and Find-A-Grave, Julianna Mercer's husband was Henry Gilbert Keith. There's nothing in his obituary to indicate that he was ever a musician though. Johnny Mercer had two sisters, Julianna and Nancy, the latter dying when she was 2 or 3.
