Trivia nationals 2026 question
« on: February 09, 2026, 03:46:49 AM »
hi, for those that do not know they we started trivia nationals last year in New Orleans. this year they doing in Las Vegas. last year I was very busy but this year I might be available. I just want to know is the current trivia nationals the same as the previous iteration in terms of celebrating game shows. it would be a very expensive investment to find out later that it no longer has the game show activities that the previous one had.

this is the website (https://trivianationals.org/)

What do you mean by “celebrating game shows”?

I didn’t attend the first two iterations but I did attend the last edition of the convention it succeeded, and except for the charity marathon it’s basically a whole bunch of competitions.
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

I’ve plotted with Jeremy Nelson about having a mega thin where people bring various home games and host round robin games. I know that the Game Show Throwdown has been on the back burner after TCONA imploded but also my body clock is so funky that I’m as apt to be awake at 7 pm as three in the morning these days.

I've talked about it with Jeremy and Travis but it's up in the air for me right now. We usually take a family vacation in early-August and I think it either overlaps with TN or is right after so funds might be tight.

That's called old age, my friend.

I have heard rumblings about possibly a smaller event like the one at Trivia Nationals in 2019, but that wouldn't be on the same level as 24 games in 24 hours.

I wouldn't attend if your sole reason is to maybe play in a game or two in a 6-hour event.

I'm on the fence since TN is happening the last weekend of summer break, but also I still have a somewhat irrational fear of traveling since losing a leg 5 1/2 years ago.

Endless trivia and bottomless fries!

I just traveled to Phoenix for a family Christmas and yesterday afternoon got home from Connecticut to memorialize an uncle (just in time to catch the greater part of gridiron gridlock).

I have a travel fund but it isn't infinite. Unless there were actual plans for a specific and smallish event like I imagined I think I would make like Russell Wilson: drop back and pass.

By the name, I would assume it's focused primarily on trivia (like quiz bowl and pub trivia) more than game shows. While it isn't linked to from the home page, there is a FAQ that goes into further detail, although I don't know whether that page was only meant for the previous event. It might be prudent to contact the event organizers themselves to learn whether the FAQ accurately reflects what the 2026 event will be like.

I’ve plotted with Jeremy Nelson
I've talked about it with Jeremy and Travis

I knew my ears were burning for a reason....

More to come, but yes, there will likely be a game show element/activation/feature at the event. 24 hours straight is likely off the table, though we're targeting a full "business hours" experience. As a man pushing 40, I enjoy sleep and not having to refer to myself as "ripe".

Obviously if you'd like to come out, we'd love to have you! But I'd find some other to-dos to round out your trip as to make it as full an experience as possible, especially looking at the price tag of the event.
