If anyone has a spare 5k lying around, you can own a piece of history!

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Not as historic as they're making it sound -- the "original dice" were hunks of Styrofoam that got replaced after about a year and a half because they started falling apart.

I notice in the ebay images that one die is showing an all-red blank side.  I always thought each die had sides representing $500, $1,000 and $1,500; plus images of cars on each remaining side.  Has the game ever used any die/dice with a blank side?

Nope -- the $500 sticker must have fallen off the die and gotten lost.

Also note that despite the word "dice" in the header of the listing, the item description clarifies that only one die is being sold.

Did they retire Gas Money, or replace the sign for some reason?

This seems like another one of those things that could be built from scratch for a whole lot less than $5K.

When the game was first played, there was no display for the cash, so I'm wondering if that sign is from the first build. Then when they decided to add the display, maybe they thought "Hey, as long as we're wiring this thing, let's make the logo light up,.too."
"Speed: it made Sandra Bullock a household name, and costs me over ten thousand a week."

The Gas Money logo lit up from the very beginning. And in the most recent playing of the game, the logo looked the same as the one in the auction.

Perhaps a second one was made for backup purposes? Or maybe they did replace the original logo with an identical-looking one for some reason, I don't know.
