Foxify a Classic
« on: January 05, 2026, 07:05:44 PM »
In a chat with Cali-Matt this evening, we were comparing Musical Chairs and the current NTT, and how much I cannot stand the slow pacing of Fox shows.

So I thought it would fun to Foxify a classic show, and I choose Pyramid.  On the FOX version, after each successful guess in the winner's circle the clock will stop, the contestant will get a ton of applause from something that was taped on a different show, and the host would give a complete recap of time, current winnings and potential winnings after each box won.  According to the FOX Pyramid bible, the winner's circle must be at least 8 minutes in length.

Any others?

Wheel: go to commercial as the flipper lands on the Bankrupt-10K-Bankrupt wedge. Did they land on the big money? Find out after the break!

(It lands on the $700 space immediately to the left of said wedge)

Jeopardy!: cue shocked audience reaction to a contestant finding the Daily Double; standing ovation for making it a True DD, then another standing O (from a different audience) for getting it right…which we don’t find out for 10 seconds. A loud gasp if it’s wrong; remember how the canned audience overreacted in the first season? That’ll sound like a mere whisper.

The front game of Family Feud is now one question long, because we spend the full first segment of the show getting to know the families and the stories behind their very important reasons for being here, so that the viewer can.relate.to them.

Fast.Money is the second half-hour of the program. The name of the round will not be changed.

Drew: "Alright, let's look in the first hole that you punched. Remember, it could be worth up to twenty...five........thousand..............dollars."

<dramatic string music swells>

<Drew slowly opens the slip>

<cut to contestant>

<cut to Drew continuing to slowly reveal the slip>

<cut to contestant>

<cut to contestant's family in audience>

<cut to Drew revealing the slip>

<cut to contestant>

<cut to random audience member looking anxious>

<cut to contestant>

<cut to security guard sitting outside in the parking lot>

<cut to contestant>

<cut to Drew revealing the slip>

Drew: ....."$500."

<musical thud, audience collectively groans>

Drew: "Now, the big question: do you want $500 or do you want to look in the next hole?"

Contestant's family: "GO, QUEEN!!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!! YOU DESERVE THAT MONEY BABY!!!!"

Contestant: "I'm going on, Drew!!!"

Drew: "SHE'S GOING ON!!!! We'll find out what's in the next hole she punched out....when The Price Is Right returns after this."

Password: during Alphabetics, each new letter comes with its own graphic that takes up the whole screen, musical sting, and audience chant.

Because of this, contestants have 60 seconds for each word.

Liza Koshy (or her 2026 equivalent): On your mark...

(Five-second jib shot of the entire obstacle course. Blue and purple accent lights dominate the set. As the jib slowly pans across the set, the motion-smoothed film look makes everything appear artificial.)

Liza Koshy: Get set...

(Four-second close-up of the contestant looking nervous but determined. The low musical drone gradually increases in volume.)

(Another jib shot of the entire obstacle course. For nine seconds, the pan slowly moves the first obstacle toward the center of the frame. Then, in less than a second, the shot zooms in tight on the contestant! In reality, it took the camera three seconds to fully zoom in, so during the zoom, the video was sped up to three times the original speed.)

Liza Koshy (in close-up): Go!

(In the lower corner of the screen, a five-minute clock begins to count down. The contestant runs ten yards from the starting line toward a giant replica of a nose. The contestant ducks down to get into the left nostril -- this nose is so large that each nostril can envelop a human adult. The contestant stands up and begins to feel along the slime-covered walls of the nostril. A GoPro mounted at the top of the nostril shows the action. This continues for ten seconds while a tuneless bass- and drum-heavy music cue plays.)

(Cut to the contestant, fully clean, sitting in front of a nondescript blue-lit background.)

Contestant: My strategy was to get in the nearest side of the nose as fast as possible -- I figured there was a 50/50 chance of the flag being there. But even though I thought I searched every side, I couldn't find anything.

(Cut back to the shot of the contestant inside the nostril. The countdown clock is now at 4:38. We see the contestant start to duck down.)

(A shot outside the nose as the contestant moves to the other nostril. No one at home notices that the contestant's feet have rotated 45 degrees from where they would have been in the previous shot.)

(Close-up of the teammate looking worried and a little impatient.)

(Medium shot of Liza yelling substanceless words of encouragement.)

(A shot from a GoPro inside the right nostril as the contestant enters. We watch them feel around for twelve seconds. During that time, a picture-in-picture shot of the teammate looking increasingly anxious slides into the lower corner of the frame.)

(Cut back to the contestant in a talking head.)

Contestant: Then I thought the flag had to be on the other side, because that's the side no one would go to first. But I searched even more, and couldn't find it. That's when I realized I hadn't searched the bottom of the nose, down by my knees.

(Cut to outside the nose, as we watch the contestant duck down to go back to the first nostril they were in...)

What's My Line:

Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews have looks of disbelief and offer commentary:  "THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!  WE JUST SAW THE BIGGEST UPSET OF THE SEASON!  OH MY GOSH, NOBODY SAW THAT HAPPENING!"  A butcher just won $50.

For the mystery guest, showing half a dozen different zoomed-in camera angles of each panelist taking off their masks.  And for good measure, Ken Jeong offering up another "OH MY GOSH, NOBODY SAW THAT HAPPENING!"

Match Game:
Each episode has a question featuring "Sleepy Joe." Occasionally, "Horrible Hunter" is used instead or in concert. Alternate contestants are no longer selected as a move to combat DEI.

Different show.
Yes, but I think it or some variation therein was said a few times on 99 to Beat, like when that pompous ass King David got defeated somewhat early on.  Or when a handful of the dozen Wagners got eliminated.

I actually admitted to watching and paying attention to 99 to Beat.  I gotta do better in 2026.

Contestant: "I'll take States for $200."

Ken: "It's the state that has Indianapolis as its capital."

Contestant : "What is Indiana?"

Ken: "We'll be back to see if you're right....after the break."

Fun thread. It led to a twist on the subject, if you don't mind - based on some of their recent efforts, such as Tic Tac Points, what would another classic in GSN's hands be like? GSN Jeopardy!
Ed:"I'll take adventure heroes for $200."
Host: "The answer is - The masked swordsman Zorro's name comes from the Spanish word for this animal. (answer disappears from screen, replaced by three boxes) Is the correct question, (A) What is a tiger? (B) What is a lemur? or (C) What is a fox?"
Ed rings in: "I think it's C."
Host: "Is it....C?" (four second pause - C box lights up green) You're correct! Pick again!"

Hanging around in the waiting room couldn't be more fun....
