Both of the questions in question -- certainly the one on Mambo No. 5 -- would be OK in Fast Money, from my seat. This past Christmas, I had results for one of the pop culture questions in this very survey (Name an actor who played Batman in a movie) and I decided to put it in a Fast Money stack in which knowing any one of the answers would make their win even easier. But if that question drew a total blank from both people, there was still a more-than-reasonable path to 200 in the other 4 questions.
To my pleasant surprise, the main game question "Name a famous painter" played just fine with my extended family, and we revealed 6 out of 7 answers. I think with something like that, given results based on a survey of the general public, the answers stay away from needing to be an art scholar. When we played "Name something associated with Ireland," all of the strikes came from people confusing it with Scotland.
We played about 16 games in all, with participants of all ages. Given the glut of adults-only material on recent episodes, I end up playing a handful of questions that require some knowledge. They go OK.
