New year, new "Feud"-ish survey for taking!
« on: January 03, 2026, 09:21:27 PM »
Happy New Year! Hope 2026 is treating you well so far. Is "Feud"-ish a word? Well, if it isn't, it should!

Anyway, I'm at it again! I’m putting together a Family Feud-style survey and I’m on the hunt for a few good volunteers (preferably about 100 :P) to help me fill it out. If you’ve got a few minutes to kill, I’d be super grateful if you could tackle my poll.

For those who don't know, I run these mock Feud games at parties with my friends, and I like having a solid database of "authentic" survey results. What can I say? Primary data is just more fun...at least I think so! Now, this one is a little more pop culture heavy than usual, but I think you guys can handle it.

The link is below for those interested. As always, a million thank yous in advance for your time and your answers. They really help make the game more fun and accurate!

This is fun, easy to do and takes about five minutes.  Help our guy out.

Done. I had to pass on one question. Couldn't think of a country whose flag has a yellow stripe, Other than that, it was fun. Thanks.

If there's going to be a quibble with the survey, it's that these two (and maybe a couple of others) require specific knowledge that your contestants may not possess. That's generally not the nature of how Family Feud works.

/I didn't pass on that question, but I got it wrong.

I'll admit that it took me longer than I'm proud of to think of a valid answer for the former question, and the only reason I submitted a valid answer for the latter was because years ago, I worked on a show that asked about that very subject, and I remembered one of the answers.

I would advise that playing either question in a competitive setting is likely to result in several blank stares or wild guesses, and not in the fun way.

This reminds me of a discussion of Feud’s evolution from not just a survey prediction game which is fine enough but similar to Match Game one where the questions are intriguing, provocative or evoke some sort of emotional response when playing, watching or seeing the answers revealed.

I contributed because I would want others to contribute if I post another but there really wasn’t one of those questions that grabbed my attention where I have to know how it played out.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

Both of the questions in question -- certainly the one on Mambo No. 5 -- would be OK in Fast Money, from my seat. This past Christmas, I had results for one of the pop culture questions in this very survey (Name an actor who played Batman in a movie) and I decided to put it in a Fast Money stack in which knowing any one of the answers would make their win even easier. But if that question drew a total blank from both people, there was still a more-than-reasonable path to 200 in the other 4 questions.

To my pleasant surprise, the main game question "Name a famous painter" played just fine with my extended family, and we revealed 6 out of 7 answers. I think with something like that, given results based on a survey of the general public, the answers stay away from needing to be an art scholar. When we played "Name something associated with Ireland," all of the strikes came from people confusing it with Scotland.

We played about 16 games in all, with participants of all ages. Given the glut of adults-only material on recent episodes, I end up playing a handful of questions that require some knowledge. They go OK.

I will admit to guessing on the yellow stripe flag questionI thought the Lou Bega question was fun; people around my age were exposed to it plenty when it came out and parts of the song are still stuck in my head.

Couldn't help it. Shitter was full.

The yellow flag question definitely took me a minute. I try to follow my gut instinct on these, but a few of my first answers would land me in a Youtube blooper reel.

Fun survey!

On the yellow flag question, I answered a certain country that was in the news a lot this past weekend (Venezuela), and in that sense I thought there was an timing advantage on that question. If not for that country being in the news a lot recently, though, I'd have probably been clueless.

Hi again! Just want to say thank you again to those that took my survey. I'm glad most of you enjoyed it and I've had a blast reading some of the results! In fact, the two questions that have gotten the most buzz around this post tells me that I can get some awesome engagement out of these questions (and I didn't have to go to Jared's ;D).

Now for those of you that found the last survey fun, have I got a sequel for you:

I tried to make this one not as pop culture heavy, but I do hope that you find it equally enjoyable as the first. Your time and input mean a lot...¡Gracias una vez más!

I did it, but I have to ask...why "one of Taylor Swift's first 12 albums".  Is it an inside reference to the fact she only has 12, or is there something I'm missing?  Seems strangely specific otherwise.
