Cue tones on GSN?
« on: September 05, 2022, 08:26:12 PM »
Remember back in the day when cable channels would do a set of rapid beeps during commercials called cue tones (see below)? Iíve heard them three or four times in the last hour on YouTube TV. Anyone else notice this, particularly on another service? Itís caught me off guard because I havenít heard that sound in at least 25 years.

I've heard them within the last five years or so on Telemundo, but I always kind of wondered if they were coming through on an audio channel that the local affiliate wasn't supposed to be passing through.

Last place I heard cue tones was on RTV in 2012, during their logo bumpers before each show. I'm not sure if they used them because they genuinely needed them, or just to add to the channel's overall retro aesthetic.
