Any reason why the platform for Allen to stand at was lower than the contestant level? (IIRC, he mentioned a step on air)

Don't know but there was a helluva blooper on the MOGSM series where a contestant fell "in the hole"

As Allen once demonstrated, if he didn't stand in his "hole", he would appear to "tower" over the contestant's heads. It looked better for Allen to be eye level with the players, and Allen also didn't have to reach so far to hand out passwords.
