I knew Sony was involved in the promotion/creation of technology for 3D film, but I never thought (or at least so soon), they would be out to do this.

I know Sony is one of the big players in this technology, but if I want to see "Wheel" in 3D, I'll head to Culver City. 3D just strikes me as something that will remain a niche format for many years, if not forever.

If I haven't seen slurventy-million colors on my set yet, how would 3D actually satisfy my visual senses?

It could work (keyword: could), but under normal circumstances its unnecessary.

Talk to me when 360-degree projection technology exists where they can reasonably put me in Section 215, row 8, seat 4 for a Sharks game. Until then I'm looking into a box and don't care whether the box has depth or not.

Is there any gimmick they haven't tried yet? What next: having the contestants purchase chintzy prizes with their winnings? An animated gremlin to mock them when they hit the BANKRUPT space? Gary Coleman?

/He wouldn't do anything, just appear for the sake of being a gratuitous gimmick

I can just see Sajak hurling things into the camera as if it were an old 1950s C-movie.

Approves of this new technology.

/Anybody else remember SCTV's "3-D" movies (where they just lunged the object towards the camera)?

"Would you like some... PANCAEKS?!"

/I waited two years to be able to use that image.

Didn't Sony do one of their first HDTV presentations with Jeopardy!?  I guess they picked WOF because it makes a little more sense in 3-D....

When I first saw NBC's "Just Watch Us Now" promo, I was wondering what that came from. Now I know!
Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.
