ESPN tried once.  From what I recall, it wasn't that great.
Nor was it a game show, it was coverage of the finals of the World Championships at the WotC Center (since closed, alas) here in the U District.

And, yeah, it was about as compelling TV as you would expect from two people sitting at a table playing a non-gambling, non-bluffing card game that 95% of the viewers at home didn't have the first clue how to play and that couldn't be explained by the broadcasters within the hour (or half-hour, I don't remember) they would have had to do it while still covering the match.

And, with like most anything that runs against the Super Bowl or other broadcast network high-ticket items are time buys with ESPN branding.  A *lot* of ESPN's non-talking head broadcast schedule are disguised time buys.

Doesn't Hasbro own the 'Simon' handheld game?

Imagine a cross between 'Simon', 'Pass the Buck' and 'Pitfall' where you have 4 'teams' of 5 contestants.  One contestant from each 'team' is standing on a large colored button.  A light sequence is shown and the contestants must reproduce it by jumping on their button at the appropriate time.  If they miss their turn or jump out of sequence, a trap door under the button opens up and the contestant is gone.  The next contestant on the team replaces them.  A team is 'out' when they run out of contestants.  When it is down to 2 teams, each team is then responsible for 2 buttons.  The last team standing wins.

Purely in jest, no one take this seriously LOL
