I can't recall GSN having run Dating Game since early 2002, so it'll certainly be nice to see again.

Regularly, I'm not sure. I know they showed an All-Star ep. with the Governator right before The Great Election of '03.

And it looks like through the PDF schedules, PYL will be starting over again (episode 110)on Sept. 5. Whoopee.
Also, I don't see any rhyme or reason to their PYL marathon in regard to the episodes, other than possibly acknowledging its 25th anniversary in September.

And they showed two DATING eps in a Barris shows minithon (along with two NEWLYWED eps and two GONG eps) in December 2006 (I think--might have been '05), the night before they premiered their documentary on Barris.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time the Pee-Wee Herman episode of The Dating Game was seen on GSN? Seems like it's been a really long time since then, and I don't recall seeing it the last time it was shown on GSN in its entirety.

Wow, they decided to not show Eubanks NG in that one? That's gotta be a first.  I figured they might throw a bit of Dawson Feud in for good measure, but they did enough of it last Christmas and again in June.

Just my opinion, but while NG and Feud were game show's in the 70's, I don't necessarily consider them 70's game shows.

For you to say that about Feud....well, no, it doesn't surprise me at all.

Presumably the first two and one of the last two are three of the eps that aired as part of The Golden Pyramid Awards in 2002. It'll be nice to have a first-generation copy again.

Shame they won't do a '60s--or even a '50s--marathon. For some of the obvious resaons:

cigarette ads
music clearances
"political in-correctness" (as in Herb Shriner's jokes)
no interest whatsoever

Cordially,
Tammy

Sorry, Tammy, but the only correct answer here is D.  They have plenty of 50s and 60s product that they could use for marathons if they wanted, shows that don't have any problems with the first three items you mentioned.  Those three factors are certainly interesting, but only affect a relatively small fraction of GSN's shows.  Let's not go placing blame where blame does not exist.

I think it's an overstatement to say there's no interest whatsoever. However, I'd say there's not nearly enough variety in the shows that are (i) legally usable, (ii) physically usable and (iii) not rigged.

I don't see why not.  In fact, you're just adding more to Tammy's list of unnecessary limitations that don't exist.  The "variety" for the other decade specials seems to be three unique series each.  GSN certainly has that and more for 50s and 60s shows that DON'T have cigarette ads and DON'T have music clearance problems and DON'T have PC issues and ARE legally usable and ARE physically usable and ARE NOT rigged.

Technically speaking, "no interest whatsoever" is probably less precise than saying "not enough interest", but really that's the only thing that's keeping GSN from doing 50s and 60s specials.  Mind you, I completely understand that decision, and even agree with it from a corporate standpoint.  But bringing up rigged shows and music clearances really just confuses the issue.
