Not sure if this is right.....but might it be Mike Jarrett of "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet"?  Previous to TMS and Fox News, he was one of the three hosts of USA's "Alive and Well".
You might be right.  I'm not inclined to dig out my VHS tape (several collectors have it), but I do remember him being a fairly young guy and slightly annoying, so it could very well be the middle-aged and slightly annoying current host.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Huge difference between "liked" and "just couldn't watch."

Love Buffet was before I got GSN, but they used to advertise it during Rock & Roll Jeopardy! I wish I'd had GSN just to see how awful it was (plus, of course, all the good shows that I missed out on).

Let me second Jim Lange's "$100,000 Name That Tune." I don't like music shows anyway, but I could still watch them except for this.

And "Hollywood Connection" was another unwatchable show. With Jim Lange to boot. I had an ax to grind because the local station preempted the CBS show at 9 central to air that turd.

You know, when I watch that TTD 90 on youtube, I get reminded again and again that Patrick Wayne (thats his name right?) is just a video game game show host.

YOOOOOOU WIN!, with the win ackwardly cut off at the end.

But hey, for those scoring at home, the game portion of the show consisted of:
Four Newlywed Game questions. Matches pay 1, 2, 3 and 6 points, depending on the question. If there's a tie after four questions, the team that pulled the higher numbered ping-pong ball from a bowl is your winner. To win a "grand prize" trip drawn from five choices, the team had to match seven times out of nine on deciding which of the two partners a given statement applied to.

The rest of the show was given over to backstage antics, storylines involving the production team.

Please, no need to thank me.

Richard Simmons tried his hand at a game show?????
I don't like seeing "Richard Simmons" and "hand" in the same sentence. The image is just too icky.

Ditto, the words "All Star".
You won't even make an exception for "Password All-Stars"?  Admittedly, I like seeing civilians win, but my recollection of this one was pretty strong.

Except for the pop-up arrow "buzzers."  Those I could do without.

Pop-up arrows cool.  Tournament format cool. Set cool.  Music package cool

One show that wasn't affected by adding "celebrity" was "Double Talk." :)

"All-New Beat the Clock," I think. Weren't Lucy reruns long before "Hollywood Connection"? Of course, my memory is fuzzy, since the shows were preempted. At different times Blackout, Eubanks' Card Sharks and most notably Press Your Luck were all preempted here in Minneapolis.

And ditto on the Password All-Stars pop-up arrows. Those totally rocked. The set rocked--best set Password ever had, including the soon-to-be-aired one.
