If Drew Carey's year hasn't been big enough...
« on: November 13, 2007, 11:07:31 AM »
Now he's going to be part owner of a MLS franchise in Seattle...I don't know how far up the latter that is compared to the TPIR and Po10 jobs and getting engaged, but he is a big soccer fan...

He was on MNF last night talking about that and everything else currently going on in his life, including the Browns.

I'm surprised Drew went with a Seattle team since there has been a lot of talk about bringing one to Cleveland.  A local developer has talked about building a stadium for an MLS team in this area.

Well, Drew knows Joe Roth, the majority owner, and apparently he made the deal right after he hurt his arm in the TPIR turntable-before he even went to the doctor!(look in the Nov 12th entry)  Plus the next expansion team is probably going to be in Philly or St. Louis (both are the top ones mentioned after Seattle), and then after that who knows when the next team will be added (since they'll be at a nice even 16 teams then).

I don't see a still-relatively-small league like MLS prioritizing putting a team in a city two hours away from one of their model franchises.

(of course, this is the same farce of a league that put a new franchise in the same CITY as one of the ones they're constantly trying to hack into a title, so what the hell do I know.)

What's wrong with the one by the lake?

Nothing. This particular investor wanted to build an all MLS stadium/shopping complex in Northern Summit County, perhaps in the mindset that what worked for the Richfield Coliseum would work for "Summit County stadium."

Oh wait...

/fortunately, Summa Field at Infocision Stadium is still a go

Wow, he is having one heck of a year. I just hope an E! True Hollywood Story isn't in the near future.

Good thing you don't use your hands in soccer...

I wonder if they'd give away a signed Beckham LA Galaxy jersey on Price one day.
The countdown to 100 ended awhile ago, why are you still here?

Since you can't apply an ARP to it, I'm gonna guess no.

Not that I'm agreeing that it's a good idea, but it could be attached to a one-bid item.

You're right. It would be a very bad idea.

Yes you can.  Upper Deck and other sports collectible companies have sold authentic signed jerseys and uniforms for years.  Neither Upper Deck Authenticated's most recent catalog (in hand) nor the MLS site have autographed Beckham jerseys for sale.  If you're talking about a game-used/worn jersey with the proper tagging, there's no way to put a definite price on it.

For a definite price that never fluctuates? Are you really going to include the "The price is based on the price listed in the Upper Deck catalog as of the time of taping" disclaimer that they used to use for gold ingots?
