Title: Heatter-Quigley & Filmways
Post by: chris319 on November 17, 2023, 06:45:14 PM
Does anyone know the details of the business relationship between Heatter-Quigley Productions and Filmways?

What did Filmways bring to the party? Why wasn't H-Q a standalone company?

Filmways was also involved with Paul Henning's shows: Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres and Petticoat Junction. Filmways also apparently had a relationship with Bob Stewart. Filmways appears on the credits of The Face Is Familiar.

When CBS cancelled all of Paul Henning's shows, presumably Filmways was left with The Hollywood Squares and not much else.

Filmways bought H-Q in 1969.

Interesting timing. Not long after the acquisition of H-Q, all three of Paul Henning's shows were cancelled by CBS, leaving Filmways with HS and Bob Stewart's Personality, which was cancelled a short time later.

Perhaps Marty Ransohoff wanted to diversify his portfolio of shows. On the surface it would seem that Filmways needed H-Q more than H-Q needed Filmways.
