GSN has started to air promos for this. Audience members try to guess which of the three comics is lying. More info at buzzerblog.com

So... Baloney (http://www.usgameshows.net/x.php?show=Baloney&sort=0), basically?

As Mike wrote in the first line of the page you linked, that set-up is hardly unique to Baloney either.
-
...wow, I really dropped the ball there.
Point is, it's not the first, it's probably not going to be the last. Nothing we haven't seen before here.
-
For verification - there are three comics. Two are lying. Audience member must choose the one telling the truth to win a prize.

Sandy Frank had a show with the same name back in the '80s. Sandy is very protective of his properties. I'm sure GSN asked Sandy for use of the title before going into production or maybe it's no big deal, :)

And that's why Steven Spielberg won't return his calls.

A. 9/10. Keep trying. One day, you're bound to get 10/10.
B. The early 80s show, at least the one I remember, was Lie Detector, singular.

If it did go before a judge, I'm pretty sure plural v. singular wouldn't be enough to get the case thrown out.

I can think of two shoes called Lie Detector - the ABC game show with Jim Peck, and the syndicated show with F. Lee Bailey (probably the most famous "contestant" was Evel Knievel, who passed when he said that he wasn't responsible for the parachute deploying early in his Snake River Canyon jump attempt) - and I don't remember either one using the plural in the title.
It also sounds like the BBC radio series Hoax, except that in that one, two of the panelists are telling the truth and one is lying.

This reveals a hole in my knowledge space, but what shows had done that before? And if they're going to do this why not bring the foul-mouthed boozing puppets out of storage?

That was Hot Seat. There was, however, a Lie Detector on PAX in the early-2000s. I think it lasted for all of an episode or two.

In the general category of "which celeb is telling the truth?", I offhand had the aforementioned puppets, Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host, Liars Club and Wordplay. I'm sure there are others I'm not remembering. Don mentioned the BBC radio show Hoax, and certainly there's a similar round in Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.
Broadly speaking, it's also the device that drives the action in games like Battlestars, Break the Bank and shows of that type.

You make it sound like they were a bad thing.
-
A thousand pardons; it is the puppets of Avenue Q who are foul-mouthed, the puppets from Late Night Liars were merely lubricated.
-
This entire concept is Balderdash.
-
Ahhh, Balderdash. :D
Definitely an underrated game show, and the best one that aired on that fledgling network. That would be a show I wouldn't mind GSN getting a hold of.

By my tally it's third best at least--Supermarket Sweep, Hollywood Showdown and Weakest Link all aired at some point on PAX/ion.

I'm sure Elayne Boosler could use $52 in residual checks.

That's fairly close--Ross Shafer got about a hundred dollars every time GSN ran Match Game all the way through.

I was only comparing it to the shows which started on PAX: Cover to Cover and their version of Beat The Clock. Cover to Cover was OK, but Beat The Clock was a sub-par remake.
CtC wouldn't be a bad addition to GSN either. Reminds me of a GSN Original.

On the Cover.
Which sucked.the big one.

I wouldn't go that far. At the very least round two was innovative, and the bonus round was something other than a race to the finish line.
-
I imagine the intention for this show is to get high ratings?
-
Considering that the game mechanism of Pointless doesn't work very well when it comes to the television industry, your imagination is correct.

GSN has this airing at 6:30 pm EST Monday to Friday. I didn't notice any repeats on the schedule. That's rather unusual for GSN.
I see that this show is currently taping in NYC. I just figured it would tape in La-La Land.
-
My U-verse guide shows repeats of Lie Detectors starting next Wednesday the 29th after Idiotest and replacing an hour of Idiotest repeats that following Saturday, as well as one or two more hour-long blocks of reruns between the 29th and as far as the guide went, which was around the 4th.

I believe it...Nice to see the "Best Week Ever" panel working together again.
-
So did anyone watch this? I saw Monday's episode. I think it's okay, but I like Idiotest and The Chase better.
-
I watched. A nice harmless way to spend a half hour.

According to Buzzerblog, Lie Detectors bombed in its debut and GSN is already pulling it from the daily schedule. It will now air once a week in primetime on Wednesdays at 9 PM with a repeat at 9:30 PM and every Saturday at 11 PM. The current slot it held is being filled with Family Feud.

As if we don't have enough Feud on the schedule.

As if they know that Steve Harvey's schtick couldn't do worse.
-
Can't they find any US-born hosts (I mean, presenters) anymore? I see the same fate coming with the 100 Questions show on ABC. Americans like to watch Americans.
-
5/10. Someone may respond.

Too late. The host is Canadian, which is why the show had to be titled 500 Questions after being converted to U.S.

The show blows, but Roam (Rome?) didn't help its cause. The foreign accents must do wonders for golf broadcasts, but I find it odd that networks keep choosing them for games when their success rate is even worse than average. That is, unless they bring something else unique to the proceedings, as Anne Robinson (and I suppose Dawson) or the Beast did and do.

Rove.
