I only saw a passing reference (http://www.gameshowforum.org/index.php/topic,26595.msg330648.html#msg330648) to this new game show/PR device for Allegiant Air in a different thread, so here's a link to an article about the show as well as their website.

It's a departure from the traditional game show fare.
-
A small crew films “The Game Plane,” a new game show filmed on Allegiant Air flights and hosted by Mark L. Walberg (not THAT Mark Wahlberg).
I like how they have to qualify that on a picture of Mark L. Walberg.

Interesting concept. I hope it takes off.
-
At least with Cash Cab you can opt out if you don't want to participate; I wonder how many people on each flight would rather not be bothered and just want to Get There, whether it's because they don't like fun or have other things to concentrate on.
-
This placard at Game Plane gates suggests that if you would rather fall asleep on the flight with a copy of Killing Jesus in your face, it won't be that hard to make that happen.

Allegiant Air flies mainly to vacation-oriented destinations, so I don't see too many passengers objecting if they're on their way to having a good time anyway. It's not like they're trying to host a game show with, say, businesspeople on a red-eye from LA to New York. :D
That said, despite the disclaimer Chad posted, passengers who wish to be "re-accommodated" may be somewhat SOL--a lot of Allegiant markets have only one flight a day, sometimes even fewer.
/love it when my game show-geekery and airline-geekery coincide

Darn, and here I was hoping that if a person didn't want to play they'd be sucked out of a window Goldfinger style.

I was surprised they didn't mention that he's the host of Antiques Roadshow on PBS -- I would think that would be more recognizable than all four of the other shows they mentioned.

Clever, both of you.

I suspect that re-accommodation could also include something as simple as being moved to the last few rows of the aircraft and asking the TV crew to avoid aiming the cameras all the way into the back.

I was thinking more "A View To A Kill"- "Does anyone else want to drop out?"
-
And I thought it was conspicuous when "Price Is Right" audience members tried to get up to use the bathroom during a taping...

Considering that Allegiant is an airline that will nickel and dime you for every little thing (including how and where you buy your tickets -- a recent round trip ticket from CO to CA was $240 including taxes and government fees, but then you add another $125 for seat selection, paying by credit card and luggage/carry-on fees), I wonder if they'll charge ya $25 to move you out of "Contestant Rows", or if they get a 25% cut of your winnings (Sarcasm intended).

It's a sad marketing team that uses "YourShowNameHere.herokuapp.com" as their URL.
Domains are cheap, you know?

The fact that you have to be the one who actively declines to participate, plus the language that the ticket agent will "attempt" to accommodate you suggests otherwise to me. I imagine if a snotty passenger refuses to move and refuses to sign a release, they can blur his face or something. But plane travel is stressful enough for a lot of people anyway, even people jetting off on holiday. This strikes me as something that could really be an annoyance for some people.

This has actually been tried before.

And AIR SHUTTLE DISASTERS?
/would have lol'd if the flight's destination was in the FICTIONAL PLACES category

And AIR SHUTTLE DISASTERS?
Everybody noticed that, because that was the crux of the entire gag.

/you should probably see Airplane II
Surely you've seen...oh, never mind.
-
So that was from an actual thing and not just an image macro.
/Saw Airplane I about 20 years ago.
-
I wonder if they built that specifically for the film or if the '79 series board happened to be laying around at NBC and Paramount/ZAZ called and asked if they could use it.
(I have never seen the film...first one is classic. Hell, I didn't even mind the '79 edition of Jeopardy either once I got to see it, even if there wasn't much reason for eliminating players.)

Ah, probably. That's a total *whoosh* for me.
I'll blame the fact that Airplane II is three years older than I am.

It's not nearly in a class with the first one or with the Police Squad TV series, but it has its moments. "I don't do impressions. My field is psychiatry."
Matt O--would you say Nielsen was a friggin' clown in Airplane! or not until Naked Gun, when Drebin became a doofus?

Considering it's missing the exclamation point, I vote for the former. But I could be wrong.
-
It's also significantly smaller, and the amounts are not in multiples of 25 or 50. A nice homage, but almost certainly a new prop.

Everything begins with Airplane!

It's a shame they didn't do a game show bit in that, although they did give us "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble," so I can't be too let down.

Did anybody check the show out yet? Any thoughts?

Did anybody check the show out yet? Any thoughts?
I checked it out, and here's what confused me. The show double runs in my area on Saturday afternoons, and the 1PM episode was hosted by Mark L. Walberg, but the 1:30PM episode had a different host, Jay Flats. Huh? Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I actually remember reading somewhere that Mark was brought in after some episodes had already been taped - anyone know for sure?
As for the show itself, it's about as low-budget as anything could be, but I've seen way worse.
-
It captured all the excitement of a three-hour plane ride without a beverage cart. Low stakes to be sure, but the low budget all around kills them. There are more cameras in the Cash Cab. If a better production company did this, they'd insist on knocking out a couple of rows of seats.
The games are dreadfully dull. One round was Winner Take All with half the sound effects. Another managed to be Card Sharks without the strategy. Granted, Cash Cab isn't mind-blowing game play, either, but it takes advantage of the situation. Game Plane doesn't.
It showed how good Mark Wahlberg is, though. He gets you through the half hour.

When "Game Plane" was brought to NATPE for consideration earlier this year, the "sizzle reel" the show provided featured Jay Flats (a comic who has done audience warmup for "DWTS" and "American Idol", as well as an "arena host" for Los Angeles Kings hockey games) as emcee.
BuzzerBlog noted in July that Walberg was "replacing the initial host" for the fall, but it didn't go further than that ...
http://www.buzzerblog.com/2014/07/24/mark-walberg-named-host-of-the-game-plane/
To be honest, the Walberg announcement was probably the first most of us heard that the show was actually premiering in the fall, let alone existed. Up until a few weeks ago, online searches about the show proved futile -- outside of the sizzle reel and BuzzerBlog article, the only other article I could find was a short piece from a Shreveport TV station in May about a "Game Plane" episode being filmed ...

according to their website, it airs on KEYE-TV here in Austin TX Saturday night. It didn't air as advertised, and a search of the program guide doesn't show it airing at all.
