(From Game Show Follies)
Changes
9am: Blockbusters (Bill Cullen)
10am: Sale of the Century (New to GSN)
12pm & 12:30pm: Shop \'Til You Drop (Pat Finn) (reruns from previous day) (Karn Feud remains December 2nd only)
4pm & 4:30pm: Shop \'Til You Drop (Pat Finn) (New to GSN)
5pm & 5:30pm: Family Feud (Karn)
I was just thinking the other day that BIll wasn\'t on GSN anymore, so this is good to see.
Also, STYD? 2013 sure has been the year of out-of-nowhere leases.
Looking at the episodes numbers, GSN is starting with the beginning of STYD. Would this be the first Stone Stanley rerun GSN has ever picked up?
They showed one episode in 2006 during the 50 Greatest Countdown.

If you count their one time airing of STYD during the 50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time marathon from 2006, then no. Good to see syndicated $ale becoming permanent. And welcome back to the GSN schedule, Uncle Bill!
And as far as Uncle Bill goes, GSN starts with episode 312 (OAD: 2/1/82).
Now if only GSN would pick up $ale\'s sister show, Scrabble, with Chuck Woolery. I don\'t care which version it is (1984-1990 or 1993). As long as it is the Chuck Woolery version, I will definitely watch it.

Yep, and if I\'m doing the math right, it looks like they picked up the last 60 episodes. As long as I\'m here, are their any new-to-GSN episodes of PYL coming soon? (Just asking. Still a nice AM schedule, regardless).
Also of note, the week of 12/9 GSN will be saluting Bob Barker\'s 90th birthday by running 10 episodes total of Match Game in the usual time slot with Barker on the panel.
I wonder if they might consider picking up Supermarket Sweep reruns to put the old Sweep/STYD duo back together....
By no means was Shop a favorite of mine, but this is refreshing. And the DVR will be going full blast for Block & Sale.
Only thing that could make this better (and look at me name, you know this is coming from me) would be if they jumped PYL to late \'85 where it left off. But I\'ll pick my battles one at a time.
I was just thinking the other day that Bill wasn\'t on GSN anymore, so this is good to see.
They\'ve been absolutely deluged by people who bought and enjoyed Quizmaster, and I\'m basing this statement on absolutely nothing.
I think I\'ve said all I needed to say in the other thread about Black Friday, but hot damn, GSN\'s done it again.
I wonder if I\'ll get to see a young Matt O. in broadcast quality? That\'d be nice.
Please let me know where I can mail the award to whomever is making these decisions.

A shame they couldn\'t get a least one episode of Price, but this is still a wonderful gesture.
Nice to see Syndie SOTC won\'t be limited to the upcoming marathon---I\'ll be glued to the run, just as I was to the first 65[? Can\'t remember!] shows GSN ran.
STYD?? Don\'t mind it at all----lots of childhood memories there, too! Wonder how many folks will be watching some of those early eps, saying to themselves, \"That\'s the dude from \"Antiques Roadshow\"!\"
/well, \"Russian Roulette\" is also up there as some of Mark\'s best work
//also hoping GSN picks up \"Supermarket Sweep\"; surprised it hasn\'t happened already
The last few months of $ale got picked up last Spring, now Shop, Syndie $ale, and Blockbusters...is Boden secretly working for GSN again?

I want Scrabble with Chuck Woolery on GSN!

Careful what you wish for, my friend. You just might get it.
Did GSN started getting nice to us or is this some early Christmas gifts for us? I mean, sure we now have more syndie $ale to look forward to as well as classic BB with Uncle Bill.
Speaking of which, I wonder how our namesake here sees that Bill\'s back after a LOOONNNGGGG spell off of GSN. The last time I saw Bill was on the original TPIR they aired some 10 years ago.
As for STYD, I wouldn\'t mind it so much IF GSN gets Supermarket Sweep as a companion show. It would make it sound like the early 90s all over again.
Syndie $ale is nice, but Chuck Woolery Scrabble paired with it is even better!
Just on shows that were part of a regular schedule:
There was also a period of about a month in early 2007 where they had a different show of his each Sunday night, and I think at some point in the past ten years, we\'ve seen the celebrity week on Trivia Trap, where he was the top winner.
Shop Til You Drop is probably a brilliant acquisition and I\'ll be curious to see the ratings. I bet it will do quite well.
Wouldn\'t it be something if Supermarket Sweep surfaced...

All runs of TPIR have been off GSN for 13 years. Since that time, GSN has aired Blockbusters, they had Hot Potato on the schedule for about a year in 2000-2001, and again for the 2007 Thanksgiving marathon, and his appearances on Password Plus, Pyramid, and Tattletales. And even most of those had aired within the past 5 or 6 years.

Child\'s Play was on the weekend schedule for a while, also.

True, as well as several runs of To Tell the Truth, which featured Bill as a panelist regularly throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Is MG currently still in the 74-75 era? Because I think this change bumps it into 76.
/Concentration.

I second this motion! Yet I keep on hearing rumors about how viewers shouldn\'t hold their breath on it because it\'s a \"complicated situation.\" Assuming the rumors are true, I wonder if that situation goes beyond the fact that they have to go through two parties to get the rights (Fremantle & Hasbro).

Speaking as someone who has had to deal with Hasbro professionally: trust me, that\'s plenty enough.

It\'s in 76 right now. (Late \'76, I think)

I\'d imagine you go through that with more than a few companies, no?
Like anything, some are easy to work with, and some aren\'t. Hasbro is one of the more anal ones when it comes to controlling how their intellectual property is presented.
Very nice that Uncle Bill will be seen on GSN on a regular basis. As for STYD, I\'m glad it\'s Pat Finn\'s version and not JD Roberto\'s. I never saw syndie SOTC so I\'ll be watching that too.
Somewhere down the line, if Scrabble and Supermarket Sweep become part of GSN\'s schedule, I won\'t complain.
Here\'s where I fume that mediacom doesn\'t even offer GSN on any package. Anyone else out there in the same boat? We get RFD but not a top 40 network ...
I love how you call it \"a top 40 network\" because it cracked #40 once or twice.

GSN has finished in the top 40 of cable networks in the last three quarters. Its 2012 overall rank was #41.
Also to note: GSN officially announced their Shop \'Til You Drop acquisition this afternoon. They don\'t note what time period the episodes come from, but note Dee Baker as co-host in the release.
Sounds like PAX era, so 2000?
Or did Dee do the Family Channel version too?
He also did the Family Channel version replacing Jason Grant Smith in 1997. Boy are we glad that Dee replaced Jason.

A post last week on GSN\'s official facebook page uses a screencap which appears to be from the PAX era (based on the grayish flooring used on set in the picture).
but that still doesn\'t necessarily mean they acquired the PAX version -- it could well be from the 2000 episode they paid to show back in 2006.
This has \"look what I know!\" written all over it.

When it aired on PAX...that era started in spring of 2000.
It\'s definitely from the PAX era (the Lifetime and Family Channel versions had white floors with various patterns), but that still doesn\'t necessarily mean they acquired the PAX version -- it could well be from the 2000 episode they paid to show back in 2006.
I was only trying to help, by adding a bit of factual matter to the discussion. Thanks for your consideration.
Since nobody mentioned (or likely, nobody actually cares), they are starting with (year) 2000 episodes.
they are starting with (year) 2000 episodes.

I, for one, am disappointed. I was hoping they would start from the very beginning with the original 1991 Lifetime run. I had just finished converting the first week of that run onto my flash stick. Has GSN forgotten that someone who hosted one of their past originals started out as the original announcer on STYD?
I, for one, think they could care less.

Heck, I\'m just thrilled they\'re not airing the JD Roberto swill.

Wait, why is the JD Roberto version so harshly criticized? I don\'t remember much being wrong with it, even the obvious set change.

Some of the fun went out the door in this version. While the Finn versions would have stunts that occasionally involved physical action or things in pop culture, the Roberto version was limited to pricing games (Which is $89), IIRC.
Whatever charm and fun was on the original Lifetime/PAX version (and it variously was fun and charming at points) was lost with the change to quizzing instead of stunts.Wait, why is the JD Roberto version so harshly criticized? Necessary why?
Because that phrase is quite often misused as it was there. Words. Meanings. That thing.
If you want to get all chicken/egg on it, why was it necessary to ask if Thunder\'s comment was necessary?Necessary why?

Necessary why?
Back on topic..I may be in the minority here but I like the crazier stunts on STYD as opposed to the pricing ones. Pat Finn is an amazing host and he reminds me of school, taking those standardized tests.
You almost had a chance to be taken mildly seriously for a bit, but you blew it.Pat Finn is an amazing host and he reminds me of school, taking those standardized tests.
I\'ve never thought Finn was a \"bad\" host, he did move along the game well. Mostly just kinda bland and \"safe\" with his style. Certainly not one of the greats, though.

But they didn\'t: they replaced \"here\'s your 100 points for winning the stunt; now you get to go shopping. Pick a store and you win what\'s inside.\" to \"run to any department with a flashing light; now GO!\" which was corny and hokey as hell and at it looks like it required multiple takes to get right. So you play a pricing or guessing game at the center stage lectern, then go running around for a few seconds, then it\'s back to guessing which was the character on Saturday Night Live. Yee haw. Like you said, at least the original article had the momentum build to a natural conclusion and made the final quiz round moderately serious. And as far as I know, Pat never rendered a verdict with \"I\'m sorry but I need you to be correct.\"The original STYD was an inoffensive way to spend a half hour. You had a mix of crazy stuff and serious stuff and it worked. When they decided to junk the crazy stuff, they junked the hook.

I wouldn\'t have minded the switch from mall to Costco so much if they found a way to keep the crazy stuff in. Although I\'m not sure what physical stuff you could do in a warehouse store.
You\'ve never been in a Costco, have you? ;)
I could think of all SORTS of fun things to do with 96 rolls of toilet paper...

Which explains all the calluses.
Interesting research foul-up on the second afternoon STYD today:
\"Which came first: the computer mouse, Mickey Mouse, or Mickey Rooney?\"
Mickey Mouse was deemed correct, despite being eight years young than Mickey Rooney.
Sorry for the bump, but wanted to note something -- per the advance schedules, on January 24 GSN will be airing the last episode of Season 7 (#080) and the first of Season 8 (#8001), going through #8013 on February 3 before looping back to #001 on the 4th.
So that'd appear to confirm the lease -- unless I missed something along the way, it's the first 93 PAX episodes.
Almost all of them...for whatever reason, episode 54 is skipped. Thanks for the correction. :) So 92 of the first 93 PAX episodes, assuming there's no further skipping.
I think it'd be a general resource for the forum, partly to help sort out the episodes that were already among traders before GSN picked up the show (similar to the Sale lists). Personally, I'd use it for research in the same way.
029 Reina & Christian vs. Shawna & GregFor the record, Chad Mosher has the bonus round of this episode on his YouTube channel, dated to April 28, 2000.
Please take this the right way: what would you do with such a list? How would you use it?I don't see the problem. (http://userdata.acd.net/ottinger/cullen/tvseries/youre.html)
There's about four Season 7 episodes I know to be around, but I have no idea whether GSN has aired them yet:
* Ayame & Scott vs. Vivian & Terrence
Also, could anyone confirm how GSN aired Shop 'Til You Drop from December 9 through January 2?

Seriously, omnivorous collectors can use such a list to keep their own episodes straight. That alone seems a plenty decent enough reason for me.
