How exactly did that amasing thing work? It does look like a multitude of slide projectors were used, but how?

The tricolor swirls were computer generated IIRC.

The swirls to me looked like they were on a film of sorts.
Even odder when the swirl in the lower contract window stopped and sorta bled into the contract number.

I'd find it hard to believe that they could generate those kinds of graphics for a game show in 1980 (I.E. Tic Tac Dough's dragon)......TTBOMK, they used film projectors for the swirls, and 2 slide projectors for the rest, 1 for the categories partially covered at the bottom, and 1 for the money amounts covered toward the top. This is exposed if you watch the windows change before the swirls appear.

Since B/E used rear projectors for The Joker's Wild, it would stand to reason that they would use the same idea again. With multiple projectors, it would be very easy to create the 'blend' effect.

The swirls were 16mm projectors running film loops.

Adding some more FAQ to this thread, although I'm not sure anybody here can answer them:
1. Now that we have established that the categories and dollar amounts spin independently of each other, how many of each category and each dollar amount were there?
2. I recall the contract window always being in the sequence 3, 5, 1, Bullseye, 2, 4. Did I recall correctly?
3. Does anybody know the distribution of the bonus round slides?

As for the question/value distribution:
I can tell you each window had four categories and four amounts (50, 100, 150, 200 and later 100, 200, 300, 400)
Contract window: I think that's about right.
Bonus round: I'm guessing there were 2 100s, 1 200, 1 300, 1 Bullseye, and 1 lightning in the window that had it. I'm probably not that far off.

Part of the celeb run had the maingame category values as high as $500. I also think I recall seeing $150 windows in the bonus round.

OK, how did they reveal what was in those windows once the buzzer was pressed?
