Buzzerblog reports that Richard Karn (http://\"http://buzzerblog.flashgameshows.com/richard-karn-is-new-host-of-bingo-america/\") is the new host of Bingo America.
I think he'd do well...I enjoyed him on Feud, and think his enthusiasm would be a good fit for the show.

But will he double the points?!?
-
Bad move.
-
Not a bad move, I think it will be a step up from Patrick Duffy.
Until he decides to double the spaces, of course.
-
Duffy was one of my few sore spots about Bingo America previously so this is a welcome change to me...I actually found myself trying to go out of my way to watch it sometimes (even though I never played the home game ._.) but he was just out of his element.
Not to mention my feelings that Karn was better than he was given credit for on Feud... yeah, I like this.
-
Bad move.
RIGHT ON! I thought Monsiour Duffy was pretty good!
That's one less show I'll watch on GSN.....
Cordially (and disappointedly),
Tammy

"Double The Points!!!!"
Surely, that's never been said here!!!!

Not only is Patrick out, but Crystal has also been replaced. HollwoodJunket went to a taping and they posted the following.

Boy, if those quips about the pace of the game make it to broadcast, Karn gets some style points.
Note the link is not a video, but just a blog post.
-
He's doubling the excitement!
What's zero doubled?

Example questions: “This ‘B’ was a favorite family dog” (Answer: “Benji”), “This ‘I’ is a great cold snack” (Answer: “ice cream”). Winner must answer three correct.
I hope those are just poor examples the author came up with himself to make the point about answers starting with B-I-N-G-O. Because as trivia questions, they're monumentally poor, approaching the poorest ever written (http://\"http://userdata.acd.net/ottinger/gshghp/Inside/High.html\").
"Beethoven" was a favorite family dog. So's Brian on Family Guy. Punky Brewster owned "Brandon the Wonder Dog" (named for NBC programming chief Brandon Tartikoff) and Jonny Quest's dog was named Bandit. Not only that, but there was a farmer had a dog, and Bingo was his name-o. And that's without looking any others up.

The questions on the show are always "gotta be one answer" questions.

Yeah, my personal favorite was "What 'G' state..."
I know there was more to the question than that, but I didn't hear it because I was too busy thinking "Why the hell do they need to hear more of the question before they buzz in?"

Interesting change to the bonus game, though there's obviously something missing from the blogger's description of it. I don't see anyone picking 55 numbers off of a 75-number board for $100K.
Wait, wait, I think I get it. You start by picking a number out of the 15 in the "B" row. Avoid the wrecking balls, and you can risk what you've won for a pick in the next column. Go across all five, and you've got the $100K. Say, do we actually have a semi-interesting risk/reward bonus game of chance here?
If there are, in fact, 20 wrecking balls on the board, I'd imagine the distribution would have to go something like this: B-1, I-2, N-3, G-4, O-10.

As a fan of Patrick's dating back to his days as The Man From Atlantis (Belinda Montgomery...yummers!), I'm sorry to see Patrick go, be it by the producer's choice or the host's. I had no problem with his handling of the hosting duties.
As for Richard Karn, I'll give the ole cop-out, yet true "only time will tell".
By the way, just a request from your beloved Don: Could we please can it with the "double the" this and "double the" that when the former Al Borland is being discussed? Woolery left Wheel and the ultra-use of slashies are infinitely less annoying.

Bill Cullen: What 'G' is the state...
{buzz}
Mr. Armadillo: Georgia.
Cullen: I'm sorry, that's not correct. I'll read the question for our family pair: What 'G' is the state in which you'd find the Mexican resort of Acapulco?
:-p

Well played.
Seriously, though, I've yet to see Bingo in America, but I honestly never thought Karn would get to host another show. Not that he was abysmal on FF, but he was just so entrenched in his his catchphrases (Lord knows he would've loved to quadruple the points too!) that he never took time to ad-lib. (Watch early Karn Feud, he did ad-lib on occasion. Not very well, but he did.)

This just in:

Nice!

I see he hasn't been able to shake his "aw shucks" and his overenthusiastic attitude he had on Home Improvement. And advertising a top prize of $50 for your play-at-home viewers? Their radio show gives more away!

Better: Diane threw the damn bingo ball at his silly azz. "Card game, ball game, card game, ball game, SCHWING!"
I think I like Diane already. She should have thrown 2 for good measure.
