As if Catminster wasn't bad enough, according to the recent buzzerblog entry, a million dollar cat show is in the works.
-
A link for confirmation: http://www.meowmix.com/think_like_cat/theGames.htm (http://\"http://www.meowmix.com/think_like_cat/theGames.htm\")
I... wow. Ow. Head. Hurts.
-
That sound you hear is the sound of Animal Planet execs clamoring to get this show on their network. That, IMO, is where it belongs, if anywhere at all.
-
I love my cats to death, but...this hurts my head too!
-
What's next, Million Dollar 'That's My Dog'?
-
...Wait, exactly how big is the "crazy cat lady" demographic?
-
If I was a cat(& my mom's allergic to them), the 3 things I'd do that make me think like a cat are:
1) Meow
2) Climb a tree
3) Avoid a lake or river since many cats hate water
Honestly, GSN needs to get its mind out of the gutter & start putting on "real" game shows. This is a perrrfect(no pun intended) example of a network in dire need of ratings. I'm a cat lover just as much as anybody, but Animal Planet's a better choice than here.
To that end, I'm gonna "scratch" that idea.

How exciting! A million dollar GS holding auditions in NYC for which I have no intention of auditioning!
-
This is the most pathetic excuse for a game show, ever.
/yes, worse than Set For Life

Nope, Million Dollar Name That Dog (http://\"http://snltranscripts.jt.org/97/97rdog.phtml\").
-
GSN gives up the rights to the poker shows- for cats.
Pass the Tylenol.
Edit- used a variation of Allstar87's $1M quote on page 1. Removed it. (sorry about that)

Greatest American Dog (http://\"http://www.cbs.com/primetime/greatest_american_dog/\"), which obviously suffers from Less Money Syndrome at a paltry $250,000 prize....
-
just cat-astrophic this gets on with other purr-fectly good shows that could get the time slot.
(I swear I tried to resist)

What I would like to know is... how will a cat spend a million dollars?

OMG :)
PS: GSN... if you really want to be out of your mind, call the cat show "The Million Dollar pussy". You may or may not know who your audience is.

Actually, the original title was going to be "What's My Feline?" They were hoping to get Kitty Carlisle, but apparently she has used up her nine lives.

Somebody did a good job on this post
:D
Seriously, didn't they learn their lesson with the crap they pedaled before, such as Funny Money, Who Dares Wins, and that Gamer garbage they had a few years back? Then again, that have DED, so that's probably to serve that particular demographic.

I can't help thinking that American Dream Derby is a better point of comparison. (That was GSN, wasn't it?)

That was--back when they tried everything but game shows and nothing sticked except the casino shows.

"101 uses for a dead..."
Hmm, I can only think of one.
-
Geez, you can't swing a dead cat around here without somebody coming up with a lame game show format.
/That wouldn't be the bonus round, would it?
-
After this goes away, will they have a mouse competition?

Well Oscar the Wonder Rodent needs work!
-
Bumping up this thread to announce that the host will be Chuck Woolery, per cynopsis.net.
-
Alex Davis, I just got the preview copy of this special today from the network. Do you have it already?
-
Is Chuck really this desperate for work?

Moreso, how do you, of all people get special GSN stuff?
(I call shenanigans)
-
Last May, during my Game Show Kingdom's second season, I got a phone call from Cindy Ronzoni that GSN would be providing PR stuff to my house. That didn't really start until the 10th of October.

Hey, if James Guckert managed to weasel into the White House Press Corps, anything's possible. Something tells me the chuckleheads at GSN aren't exactly the most discerning bunch.

Far as I can tell, they don't have any particular need to be discerning. If website owners want to disseminate their information, then why not provide such information to be disseminated. I think the only reason more people don't have access to the GSN publicity materials is because more people haven't asked.

I guess I'm more used to the old school King World method of new media relations (see also: Shuster, Marci).
Poor Ben Schumin... she drove him mental, you know.
-
Gotta love the lame "MMMEEEEOOWWWWW" from Chuck on the ads. You can tell he really wants to get that lame show over with and forget about it.
-
The NY Times rips the show apart (although the critic admits up front that he hates cats):

Would you have expected otherwise?
This honestly comes off as an Extreme Gong-era misbegotten idea, or perhaps National Lampoon's Greek Games in a more recent vein. If they wanted to keep Chuck on, they should have just renewed Lingo...
