In the A/V Clips board, we were having a discussion about computer graphics vs. tangible moving pieces on a set; hence, this hypothetical question:
If you could own one set piece from any game show, past or present, what would it be?
-
Hmm...I'll take the giant gameboard from Cross-Wits ('70s).

If it had to fit in my house, either the original question displayer on Match Game '73 or the original Any Number board from TPIR.
And if I had a bigger house, the panel desks from Match Game '73. With steps.
-
In a related note, several of us shared our wishes in this thread (http://\"http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=3156&hl=\") from 2004...some good stuff in that one too.
-
One of the Deal or No Deal models?
How about the gold "money ball" from the Magnificent Marble Machine? If I had room, the huge machine itself, which probably hit the scrap heap sometime in 1976.
-
A set of the numbered "word wallets" from the CBS 'Password". Or a word card from the Lightning Round toaster.
-Kevin
-
I'm surprised nobody's said this:
The big clock from Jack Narz's "Beat The Clock".
-
I'd take Trebek's Jeopardy! lectern from the 1980s.
BTW, can one of the mods change the "on" in the thread title to "one"? Sorry for my typo.
-
If I had the space, without question: Give me the original or the G-T Concentration board.
If not, I'll take the original Jeopardy! board from the Fleming era.
-
I'd want this card:

Interesting to compare this to the four-years-ago thread. The funny 'hot model' answer in that thread? Icey.
Poor Icey's career appears to have...melted. Her website (http://\"http://www.icey.tv/home.php\") hasn't been updated since 2004.
-
If it fit anywhere, I'd love to have the crystal dome...
/You did say ANY game show...
-
I'd take the Wheel of Fortune....if not, how about the Wonderwall?
-
I'd like to have one of the podiums from Face the Music.
-
If Boden's not doing anything with Super Ball!, I'll gladly take it off his hands.
Short of that, I'll take two decks from Card Sharks, complete with Jokers and syndie prize cards. And maybe the Money Cards setup.
-
I think I would take Paul Lynde's desk from the original Hollywood Squares if it still exists. Oh, if that desk could talk . . . .
-
I'll take the Cliffhangers game off of Drew's hands.
-
TPIR's "Give or Keep" board.
-
Either the "Scrabble" cube or the Pyramid from the 80's set.
/Ed Flesh is a genius
-
The "J" and the "!" from the lit-up Jeopardy! letters. That, or the Pick It! nose and the Sundae Slide from Double Dare..
-
How about, from Match Game, a card matching my "SuperMatch" response, with celebrity autograph?
I believe that Richard Dawson used to sign the card he'd written to match the contestant "Super Match" answer.
This would also mean I'd won SuperMatch...
-
The Joker Machine Circa 1972-1986
Don't need the innards , I'll just take the Framework and add what ever lights to it. Then get Video projectors for the Slots. Finally Put what ever Handle on the side . (lights or No Lights)
-
The two price tag logo from Bill's version of TPIR.
-
First choice: The giant electronic display from CBS' Double Dare.
Second choice: The Bonus Shuffle game from Beat the Clock.
-
The old survey board from Family Feud. (Wait, does somebody already own that?)
-
For that price, I guess you're springing for it? ;-)
-
LARGE: The contestant island from PYL.
MEDIUM: Either the rotating question holder from Eubanks/Rafferty CS or the card table (when I was a kid, I always wanted the latter)
SMALLER: One of the Scrabble plungers or the small display monitors used on 80s Pyramid (that showed the words)
-
The playing cards from Price, with the face cards I've never seen anywhere else--
the ones that inspired my playing card collection.
And hey, since both Hit Me and Joker are retired now, it's not like they're being
used anymore, right?
(Seriously, anyone have any idea where they might be now?)
DW
-
I'll take the US $ale Winner's Board.
-
I'll take anything from 80's Pyramid. Preferably Clark's podium. That to me, would be the best thing to own.
-
what? nobody has room for a magnificent marble machine?
-
I think I would take Paul Lynde's desk from the original Hollywood Squares if it still exists. Oh, if that desk could talk . . . .
Peter Marshall: Paul, if your desk cuold talk, what would it say?
Paul Lynde: Oh, paint me! PAAAAAINT me!
I'd like one of the isolation booths from the $64,000 Question. Fit that with some proper lighting, run a hose in there and you can grow po...er, hydroponic tomatoes, uh yah, that's the ticket.
-----
Not to threadjack, but this reminded me of an old question - I remember episodes of original Password where somebody would have trouble sitting down, and Allen Ludden would mention something about "the chair slipped off the track again" as they got it straightened out. (And nowadays, the taping of that show would take 10 hours as they fix the chair and it's all edited out.)
What was with those chairs anyway?
-
Since Mike already claimed the Bonus Shuffle from Hall BTC, the clock itself might be nice; my son would like that...
How about the electronic lock from Dream House, installed at my front door so salespeople have a 1/64 chance of me opening the door... actually those are better odds than they have now.
On a smaller scale: the golden dice from Martindale's "High Rollers", or the red TAKE from Classic Concentration, esp. when someone at work gets the last bagel.
Matt
-
Thinking little, assuming that the "one piece" can come in pairs, I gotta go for the "Super Password" monitors.
Thinking big, the original "Hollywood Squares" grid.
Brendan
-
I would choose Marc Summers' podium from Double Dare.
-
I'd like the solari board readout thingy from the bonus round of "The Big Showdown." A nice item from one of my favorite shows that would look great in my rec room.
-
The game board from TTD... complete with the Apple ][s and the Altair to run it. It'll make a great conversation piece.
-
The Dawson 'Feud' face off podium... makes a great coffee table!

I'm sure over the years Allen Koss and some stagehands had some choice conversations about it: "Get that &^%$#@! piece of %$#@!@#$% out of here, and take your *&^%$# categories with you!"

How 'bout the three-sided Now You See It board? It'd be a little large for the average living room, no doubt, but replace one side with a flat-screen TV, another with a big oil painting...
-
I'd go for an eggcrate display of any size. The Perry CS Money Cards would do just fine.
I also wouldn't mind having the sideways Showcase Showdown wheel from 30-odd years ago. That would fit in the living room.

I dunno, wouldn't you want to use the big flat-screen for the MAME deal, and leave the big honkin' neon "Now You See It" out there where it can be, y'know, seen?
Thanks for the kind words, but don't let it get around. Everybody'll want a cut. ;)

Well, I was thinkin' build the control panel into it. I dunno. I was inspired by the MAME setups I've seen with multiple rotating control panels. :)
-
I can't get the multi-quote to work, so:
The NYSI board would be nice, but I'd rather have the FF board.
Instead of an eggcrate, I'd like one of the NY Pyramid desks with the Solari display. (The person who wanted the screen may remove it at our mutual convenience.)

Chris Lemon started this topic back on ATGS in December of 2001. With the new shows that have come out since then; I'll ask it again:
"If you could own a couple pieces of game show memorabilia what would it be"?
1) A pair of Showdown dice.
2) The birthday cake plunger from The Money Maze (rung after completing the $10,000 Dash, used in the series but not in the pilot).
3) The Jeopardy! logo sign over either the contestants or the board from the 1964-75 run.
-
The 1970's era Gambit bonus board would look good along a rec-room wall.
-
Superball! would be nice. In the same vein, didn't Make the Grade make use of Skee-ball for their stunts or am I just horribly hallucinating?

Okey-dake. I wouldn't have gone there, but that's probably because when somebody says "Mame" to me, I go to the choice between Angela Lansbury and Lucille Ball. (Which, when you come right down to it, is *no* choice at all.)

"Total Panic" Sidetrack post-Googling: The one time I watched that craptastic "iVillage Live," I didn't recognize co-host Molly Pesce as the former Molly Scott. Guess she's doing a show or did a show on Animal Planet recently.

Let's see...and it would have be from The $20,000 Pyramid set staged at TV-15...all or part of one of the background pylons (perferably the third or middle one) as seen on the main game platform. The complete set of five of them were never used or duplicated on the post-1982 sets in California.

I don't remember the Skee-Ball (or much of anything, for that matter) in Total Panic. The only reason I remembered the Skee-Ball in Make the Grade is because it felt like that made up at least half of the Fire Drills.
I wouldn't mind having the MtG Flip board, either.

As I said when we played this game before, I have a practical and realistic answer. I would love to own one of the sets of flip cards used to keep score on the original What's My Line?. Thing is, I may have missed my only opportunity several years ago, when a set was auctioned off and ended up going for about a thousand dollars.

I can't believe nobody's said the Hot Seat from WWTBAM.
The one in New York would be fine, but if the Disney folks still have the one from the "Play It!" set in Anaheim lying around somewhere, I'll be much happier to take that one! (:))

Just because it's too early and I can think too much - I'll take the entire Fun House from "Fun House". Even though I like the earlier simpler design, I'd like one of the later houses, if only for the pool.
I'm actually lucky in that I have a set piece. About 10 years ago we were cleaning out the storage room in my residence house at university and blammo - I found it - a Reach for the Top team team identifier. It's somewhere around and to be honest I need to mount it up somewhere. It's not really rummaging out back of CBS graphics, but still :)

Mine is an either/or proposition:
The large lighted Match Game logo ('78-'82). Should that not be available, I'll settle for one of their logo "extensions" ("78", "79", or "PM").
I wonder if there was an "80" logo extension around, but never used. Probably not, but it would've made one heckuva Ebay auction item if there was.
My only other game show item I would like would be a deck of the Card Sharks playing cards.

Digging up a thread a couple months old...
If I could have any set piece, and I'm surprised anyone hasn't said it yet, it'd be one of the contestant podiums from the 1985-1991 set of Jeopardy! and a contestant podium from the 1991-1997 set to Jeopardy! (and Alex's podium from the '91-'97 set)
And, since some have gone off and posted entire lists.... (hey, if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em ;) )
I'd also like the set itself (including the mechanics and operating devices entailed) to Bullseye, including the original Bonus Island prop and host/contestant portions of the set.
The entire third-season Jeopardy! set. Contestant entrance arch included, as well as the Super Jeopardy! stage flooring and extra contestant podium.
The border and gameboard to The Joker's Wild from 1983 (that blue neon around it looked WAY better than the red incandescent lights).
Anyways, I'll stop now... lol

Not a set piece per se, but a check from 'Check Game'. Maybe a slip or two from the "Punchboard".
-
One good set piece would be a Solari split-flap numerical display that is up for bids on eBay's Austrian website [in German, but with some English] for $285.
http://cgi.ebay.at/Solari-Split-Flap-digit...bayphotohosting (http://\"http://cgi.ebay.at/Solari-Split-Flap-digital-numerical-displays_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ190234989346#ebayphotohosting\")
According to larger pictures, this display was made not by Solari di Udine out of Italy, but by an apparently now-non-existent firm called Signaltron of East Elmhurst, NY [in the NYC borough of Queens]. Since a lot of New York City-based game shows in the 1960's and '70s used split-flaps, they probably bought a lot of those old ST-15's from Signaltron.
Still, $285 is a great price for a piece of vintage game show scoring/timing.
