Title: NBC puts "The Singing Bee" on Hiatus
Post by: xavier45 on November 01, 2007, 09:08:46 PM
Buzzerblog is reporting that NBC is going to be putting TSB on the shelf because of low ratings. The planned episodes for next week and beyond are being replaced by 2 hour episodes of "The Biggest Loser".

It could be worse: they could be replacing it with Karn Feud.

I told you so, NBC. You should've only let this air in summertime.

Of course, because the Bandit is Supergod, Jr ©, and whatever he says goes!

Now, see, that can't be true, because if everything Bobby said went, NBC would have limited the show to the summer, all would be right with the world, and we'd all be holding hands and singing "Kumbaya."

Isn't it amazing?  He knows how NBC should program its schedule, he knew how CBS should have handled the Barker-to-Carey transition, and he knows every single Wheel of Fortune bonus puzzle that the contestants miss.  What doesn't he know?

Posting 101? Board etiquette?

Or, was that a rhetorical question? ;-)

/Which isn't to say it's not fun.

Maybe they are holding the episodes for when the writers strike happens?

So they can run them on huge monitors next to the picket line, in hopes of forcing a settlement?

It's too bad - I kind of like this show too.  I noticed they skipped an episode because the Halloween show featured a different returning champion.  I was hoping to see if they'd do anything for Christmas!

Oh well...it was nice while it lasted!

You know, after I heard about the writers' strike, maybe NBC jumped the gun on pulling "Bee". Hopefully, it'll be back soon.

I hope it is back soon. A good primetime game show that doesn't have to offer a million dollars is rare nowadays. Singing Bee has entertaining games (I love "Singing With the Enemy") and a half decent host. Here's to hoping it's back on soon.

I like the show, but I can see why NBC pulled it for sweeps.  If you're being beaten by Freakin' "Cavemen"...

Perhaps it would've been better to keep it at 9:30 and enjoy a somewhat protected position after "Biggest Loser."  I hate for it to be up against the Death Star after the beginning of the year, but if "Idol" and "NCIS" suck up most of the viewers at 8 p.m., perhaps if it gets enough in the demos it may keep the lights on for NBC at that time.

Meanwhile, the show that would've aired tomorrow night was a tie-in to the "Green is Universal" campaign of The Networks of NBC Universal (don't miss this week's "30 Rock," in which Jack presents a San Diego Chicken-ish mascot for the campaign)--if and when the show airs, will all those references be cut?  (I noticed that any mentions of the champion's previous winnings last week were cut, so that people might not notice that a show didn't get aired.)

Saddest part of the whole deal is that if you want a Lisa Byrnes fix, you have to watch that decrepit "America's Most Smartest Model" show. I did catch a little of it and thankfully restrained myself from throwing something at my expensive LCD TV.
