Title: Homemade Game Show Games
Post by: pds319 on September 30, 2007, 09:16:54 PM
Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone here has decided to make their own home versions of some games. Done a few with Wheel of Fortune, Pyramid, and Jeopardy! I put up a few pictures (http://\"http://www.flickr.com/photos/53611855@N00/\") and a video (http://\"http://youtube.com/profile?user=pds319\") of the the wheel in action. Also, I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for new things I could build. A Plinko board will be coming up as soon as I get the funds for it. well, I guess that's it from me. Peace and naked grease people!

Okay, I went to that link thinking I was going to see the usual eye-rollingly bad stuff.

Holy. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Paul has some amazing talent, folks. Those look FANTASTIC.

/and now I want a custom-painted Wiimote

Wow.

Congratulations!  Lovely work.

As for what to do next--how 'bout a set of Joker's Wild reels?

The video doesn't do it justice but the jpgs do. Very slick, especially the wheel!

How about a Magnificent Marble Machine or a Money Maze?  :-)

My first thought when looking at those photos were "OK, they look nice".  But when I enlarged the pictures, they almost make me think I was right there in the studio esoecially with that wheel.  That is so awsome.  Thamks for the photos & the video.

As for MMM & Money Maze, the first one is very hard to come up with.  Even if you build it to half-scale or even 1/3 scale, it still wouldn't do justice to the gigantuous Marble Machine on the show.  The maze is doable, except there might be spots where projecting the numbers on the maze is gonna be tricky.  The "crow's nest" is the easiest part of the maze & the lighting around it would be so elaborate, it would come close to the real deal.

I wouldn't mind seeing a TTD board from the '78 version(not the '90 version).  That board looked so cool with those monitors.

Hey guys. I just finished rebuilding the base to the Wheel and the lighting was redone. Tell me what you think and if I need to change anything.

Dude, you are so wrong in the head. And I mean that in an "I want to bear your children" way. :)

Just. Friggin'. Incredible.

I didn't think you could improve it, but you did! Is there any chance of you posting instructions on how to build it? You building that and sending it cross-country would be infeasible (although I'd be willing to pay :)), but a list of raw materials and the art you used would get most of us there.

No, completely wrong in the head would be getting some time near a kiln so as to make a ceramic dalmatian to sit beside the wheel.

But, y'know, if anybody can do it, it's this guy.

Wow.  Congratulations.

So, because I'm curious, how do the wedge inserts work?  Do they have a velcro like substance, or do they simply just fit over the others?

Major kudos.

Very impressive!

The Family Feud flip-panel gameboard[minus the fast money panel] would be a fun exercise for you to attempt.

Damn.  That's awesome. :)

I'd go for the TPiR doors or the big wheel next, if you want suggestions.

That ton of work is amazing! Yours come off as superior models, as compared to the mass market designs people like me put together.
Perhaps a game to consider because you're already half-way there is Wink's The Last Word?

Oh, hell, just go all the way and do Winning Lines.  You could probably make it look pretty decent. ;-)

Wow.  If it wasn't against my religion, I would so bow down to you right now.

That is just awesome.  You win.  Give yourself a Big Money wedge; you win that too.  :)

Hey, no break-cutting here. He does Feud, he goes all the way.  (And I have little doubt he could.)

Amazing. I've seen some nice Wheel replicas before, but never one with lighting. Kudos.

Nah, the ultimate replica would have to be the set of Whew!  From the 6-level board and the 'breakaway' stage to the Gauntlet of Villains -- that would be the Granddaddy of all replicas, IMHO.

Dude:

I don't post too much here (mainly lurk) but I had to post to say: YOU RULE.

That was flippin' amazing.  Every detail.  I also love the Pyramid with the trilons and everything -- so obsessed with those.

Major props.

If you do The Joker's Wild please make it the blue neon set.  That was so much cooler than the '78-'80 set.

I don't know how I missed this thread the first time around.  Fantastic job, dude!  I assume the Pyramid and WOF trilons really turn?  I'd love to see a demo of that!

If you want to go retro, one of the coolest game boards of all time: the original, 30-square New York version of Concentration.

I like it.  But you've got to go the whole nine and build a set of prize-display boards, too.  Bonus points if they track apart and the host can enter from behind them.

The emcee never entered from behind the prize board; only new contestants did.

My bad.  Even so, you build the boards, they've gotta track.
