Why WOULD they be? (Unless they're written in Java.)

No Java usually = No Mac.

Well it wouldn't be a BASIC Games Update with out a technical glitch. The Games are now ready for download.

I'm not sure if they are mac friendly. You'll just have to download the runner off of my site and see.

Download them NOW at basicgames.folff.com

The Wikipedia page (http://\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learn_to_Program_BASIC\") for Learn to Program BASIC suggests that there was in fact a Mac version of the Runner.  Unfortunately it's no longer on Interplay's site (nor is the Windows version, for that matter).

Even if a copy could be located, this page (http://\"http://www.sowholesale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=6928\") lists System 6 the minimum requirement for the Mac version, so it's not likely to work on any modern Mac anyway.

It's on the (relatively) ancient side; this page (http://\"http://www.macresource.com/mrp/archive/199808.shtml\") pegs the release date at 1998.  Apparently this flavor of BASIC was created primarily for the tutorials that came with it.

Needless to say we're not talking about anything remotely standard or up to date.

In fairness, I doubt that gwarman2005 meant to offend anyone; the quote in question is probably the most popular and concise way to explain why arguing on the Internet is often pointless.

That said, it also has no place on our board... figuratively, and now literally.

First of all, I love this new $ale of the Century. But I have two complaints:

1. The game (I believe) won't let me have a tie game, for when the 60 speed round ended in a tie, the program then said, "Return without Gosub".

2. Having the penalty cards from Temptation in the Fame Game was a novel idea. But I'd rather have the randomizer you had in the previous version & the last years of the American show.

Could you something about what I said in #1? And if you'd like you can put the randomizer back where it was.

As far as the randomizer goes, if Temptation would have used a randomizer I would have kept it. But, it doesn't so I didn't.

Once, there was a stalled car in the middle of a busy street. Traffic was backed up for miles. Lots and lots of drivers were honking their horns, cursing and yelling at the driver to move his car. But the driver had no jumper cables, no towing mechanisms, not even a cell phone to call a tow truck.

The drivers continued to curse, yell and honk, but one driver did not. One driver, instead, took it upon himself to lend a hand to this driver, and help him get his car out of the street. He hitched the stalled car to the back of his pick-up, and drove, freeing the traffic.

I ask you. Who's behavior do you think was most effective?

Think about it. :)

Thank you, Allen. :) To continue your analogy, though, in this case, a good Samaritan DID try to lend a hand, several times in fact, and the stalled driver told him to screw, saying he knew that his car was supposed to work like this and he would move when he was damned good and ready.

So I ask YOU: who's the idiot here? :)

A small, quiet barfly once decided to make wagers with his fellow barmates. He bet the barmates that he could pick up the player piano in one corner of the room, and carry it across the room. The other barmates gawked at him and told him not to waste his time. Not to be discouraged, however, he walked over to the piano and set to work.

Needless to say, the man failed. The piano didn't budge. The other barmates continued to gawk, saying that he was wasting his time. The man was not discouraged, however. He held his head high to his barmates and said, "At least I tried."

...and then he had to pay up on $100 in bar bets. :)

A guy hears a knock at his door. He opens the door to be confronted by a common garden snail. The guy snarls "Get the hell out of here!", and the picks the snail up and throws it as far away as he can.

Three years later, the guy hears another knock at the door. He opens the door to be confronted by the same snail.

The snail says "What the hell was that about?"

So, you're telling someone how they ought to 'fix' a free program that probably has several hours of hard work put into it, just because it doesn't have the Winner's Board or Money Game? Do you realize just how dumb you sound right now?

No?

I'll tell you. That is probably one of the dumbest things I've heard on this board in an awful long time. And I'm sure Ryan appreciates it that you think enough of his created bonus round to keep it around. Good gravy.

Question 1: Were you appointed Director of What Should and Should Not Be in Perfectly Free Computer Versions of Game Shows while I wasn't looking?

Question 2: Are you paying Ryanmo for his games?

Question 3: Is he claiming that his game uses the real bonus rounds?

If the answer to all three questions is "no," then he doesn't "need" to use the real bonus rounds.

What you were thinkng was sort what I was thinking about the original shopping bonus round in the series, only because I didn't remember it when I started watching Sale reruns on USA. I thought the last series bonus game, and/or the seconds series bonus game were better. But looking back on this, I say that I like the old original bonus game as much as the other two.

But I'm sorry, but I don't think Ryanmo has any use  for the series bonus games, but thanks for your comments.

Sorry for jumping off the handle, and thank you for your time.
