Title: żVas o No Vas?
Post by: StevensM on June 04, 2006, 01:03:18 PM
It looks like the US version of "żVas o No Vas?" ("Deal or NO Dealis moving along in development.  The show will include a question & answer round, unlike the NBC show.  The top prize will be $250,000, which isn't bad for a show on Telemundo.  I'll be impressed to see that on a syndicated English language version of Deal or No Deal.

Interestingly, the casting call in Las Vegas was looking for contestants for both the NBC version and the new Telemundo version.  That must be a first.

You can find casting information on the official web site.  It looks like the casting tour for the Spanish show will be going a couple big cities with large Spanish-speaking populations.  There are also some pictures, presumably from a pilot.

Me thinks the pictures came from Mexico's Televisa version, which has the same host.

Two things:

1) Since it is a NUNI (pronounced "NUNI") production, here's hoping that this is the test for DoND syndie in 2007.  I, after watching the Aussie version, think that it's perfect for the US.  Decent amount of drama, but it's upbeat and would work well for both the blue hair and college set.

2) "Vas or no Vas" screams for an urologist joke somewhere.

The set on the Telemundo site (http://\"http://www.telemundo.com/vasonovas/index.html\") is different from the one depicted on Bother's Bar (http://\"http://www.bothersbar.co.uk/weekendspecials/dealworld.htm\").  It wouldn't surprise me if they are changing the set a bit for the new show.

Notice that in the photos they have the US dollar amounts as well.  So in any case, those photos are indeed intended to promote the US version.

The lead time neccessary for syndicated shows these days is just absurd.  Remember "Dinah's Place" on NBC?  That show went off on 7/29/74 and she was back on in syndication with a 90 min. show just over a month later.  By the time 2007 rolls around, the bloom will be off the rose and it will be a "No Vas."

Casting was held in Los Angeles yesterday, and is going to El Paso in two weeks.
