See this page for the contestant application:
http://www.embassyrow.com/chain%20reaction/ (http://\"http://www.embassyrow.com/chain%20reaction/\")

The page mentions that the show is set to run on GSN.

Is it the same format as the former Bob Stewart game?  If not, how is it played?

Do a search on the forum and look for Chain Reaction pilot.

I know it may be wishful thinking, but I'm still hoping for a NY homebase for the show.
Now if I could wrangle up two friends (or acquaintances), I'd apply.

Yes, the game plays quite like the Cullen version, as per a report of the pilot taped in late March.

Embassy Row emailed me yesterday.  It's officially picked up and will start taping in early July.  I'll find out if in LA or NYC.

Not sure if I like the "Battle of the Sexes" aspect of this new production.  I enjoyed the show better with celebrities, plus the teams rotated, so juggernauts were less common.  The Canadian version without celebs just didn't have the sparkle of the Cullen version.

I just submitted the application.

After what I thought was the only page to fill out, it brings you to a page where you are asked to upload a photo.

You can select the option that you don't have one, but it looks like you'll have to submit one by mail.

Then you probably won't like this version...if they keep the style of the pilot (which, btw, had mixed sex teams, all with a common bond...no, not like "Hot Potato") then you'll see a quick, easy, painless, dry gameshow done on the cheap, played for a little money and a few laughs.

In other words, exactly, IMHO, what GSN needs for their daytime sched. And a lot more of them at that.

Another thing to make sure your teammates do: get their apps in ASAP. Mine are a little slow in doing so.

How did they conduct said interview, just so I have some idea what to expect whenever I go in for it?

Our turnover time was about a week from submission to audition confirmation.

I'd gather distance doesn't have much to do with it. They may be auditioning in order of submission. Also, with it's proximity to NYU, I would gather there would be quite a few college students trying out.

And just remember, guys and gals, it's your responsibility as to how they get it AND who you pick. Just a little tip.

Now that that's out of the way, I got my confirmation email today, and I gotta go into NYC Thursday at 11 to go try out.

Also, just a reminder to those of you potential CR contestants, fair warning- while you're required to have two teammates of your choosing, you can and will be split up at their discretion. That's what happened to me- I signed up with two of my coworkers, and only one is on my team. (Also, if any of your email addresses is hewwwooo@aol.com, email me as soon as you can, because I don't know who this person is.)

Interesting.

Not sure if they started doing this from the beginning of the auditions. I figure they would keep teams as is.

We were the first group of the day to audition when I went. It's quite possible we were the first team to audition period.

Okay, I know no one probably gives a crap now, but I'm gonna update my situation just so no one either ends up having the same thing happen or assumes that they'll be split up.

I got to NYU (where the auditions are, for those unfamiliar with the process) with my teammate, and once we realized that the other person in question wasn't showing up, we explained to the casting people that we weren't supposed to be on a team with said person. A call to the third teammate revealed the problem: apparently said person misread my handwriting: I ended up writing down the email addy on a piece of paper for him (which I put in brackets, which he put in the subject line, complete with spelling the email addy wrong, although it was on the damn application in the first place). Luckily, we were able to get a rescheduled date (TBD).

The moral of this story, folks? Don't pick people who aren't too bright for your team.

Actually, the (obvious) reason why I said that is because I'm still waiting for the rescheduled audition for my group, and it was easier for me just to go into NYC than to trek all the way out to PA. Then again, I'm probably overreacting (nay, that's a definite).

My team and I auditioned at 11AM this weekend in King of Prussia.  People were surprised that we drove 5 plus hours from Pittsburgh, as most there were locals.  When they asked who knew how to play, the staff was surprised how many people knew how to play, most that did were young, and said they saw it on the internet.

THe audition was really fun, and since I assume we were only competing against the other male teams, I think we did really really well.  The staff was responsive to us when we had our taped audition, and they said we should receive a call in 4-6 weeks.

They said 4-6 weeks they would let us know, and here we got a call 10 days later saying we would be on the show.

Our taping is July 17th, does anyone know officially how the game is played, is it like the pilot, and what is the top prize?

She did say there are not returning champs.

I was hoping with this show taping in NY, they would go for a demographic cross-section. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

It seems, once again, they are focusing on good-looking people who don't know how to play the damn game. I guess from a budget perspective, this is a good thing. It would also seem that they are picking teams based on quirky occupations/relations. (ie: female standup comics)

Unfortunately, we may be seeing a lot of the grunge/hippie type contestants. That's what one get's when you audition so close to NYU.
