Ooh! Ooh!!! That means MORE GAME SHOWS!!!!!!!!!11111111
You should really think about taking that new copy and paste class taught by Professor Brian Henke - he'll teach you to copy and paste in ways you never thought possible!
I hear it doesn't cost any money, just a copy of a previous Powerball Instant Millionaire show, but it needs to be typed out manually. :)

The only guys who would speak on the record that it would be good for their syndication companies happen to be the guy from King World and a guy from Warner Bros-Telepictures, both sister companies of the folks who will run CW. Syndicated movie packages will be what most of the outcast stations will pick up for those two hours of primetime.
-
The wild, rampant speculation is bad enough in our own forum, but watching the professionals do it is just this side of bizarre. I saw one article that said it would "make sense" now for 7th Heaven to be un-retired and for Everybody Hates Chris to end up on the CBS lineup.
There are a lot of people directly affected by this merger, and no doubt they've got some long, frantic days ahead. The rest of us armchair critics ought to just step back and let the dust settle before we start speculating about a Tom Welling guest spot on Smackdown. ("But he's Superman, he could beat anybody!")
-
It won't really affect the Sag-BC-Flint market. We don't have an over-the-air UPN or WB. Heck, we don't even have an affiliate of i.

That's my guess. I can't see why people are so eager for this "Fox 2" to come to fruitition when it was obvious that the previous #5 and #6 networks couldn't cut it

What exactly do the letters "C" and "W" stand for?

They stand for the parent companies of the merging networks:
C = CBS Corporation
W = Warner Bros. Entertainent
EDIT: I knew that question had been answered elsewhere. Blankin' short-term memory...

Google is your friend.
Yahoo is your friend.
PRETTY MUCH ANY NEWSPAPER ARTICLE ABOUT THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS YOUR FRIEND.
As stated in just about every single story about this but this one, the "C" is for "CBS", and the "W" is for "Warner Brothers."
There is nothing wrong with asking honest questions.
There is something VERY wrong with asking honest questions that very clearly demonstrate you didn't make Effort One to locate the answer yourself. And there is NO way you couldn't have found this answer with absolute minimal effort.

In fact, just the third post down (http://\"http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=9796&view=findpost&p=108481\") in the main CW thread.
Memo to musicman: do you remember when you were accused of not paying attention, and you claimed that you didn't understand what was meant by that? This is another example.

I thought THIS was the "main" CW thread.
BTW, I just wanted to be sure what the letters meant. If it makes any of you feel better, I came to the exact same conclusion about the letters without any media assistance. ;)

I thought a moron would have an easy time to figure it out without having a group of people who (the rumbling gets closer) have seen the article and could easily make the connection between the C and the W.
Oh yeah, one more thing.....

No shots necessary. There is a world of difference between "taking a few seconds to figure it out" and "not even bothering to do the most basic research, then ignoring a post in which it was already explained." :-)
-
CW has also been shorthand in the trades for Carsey-Werner of the YBYL and IGAS revival attempts. Wonder if Variety will mull a diff moniker for the distrib vs. the weblet.

However Variety decides to do it, you can be sure the decision will be peppered and salted with all kinds of goofy antiquated buzzwords designed to make the reader feel like they're in some kind of idiotic secret club.

That is not the worst idea I've heard today. As I said before, I find "The CW" to have very little going for it.
-
Even plain "CW" doesn't work for me. It sounds like a film director being addressed by his flunkie.
-
And since Carsey-Werner will be, effective with the last episode of "That 70s Show," defunct as a television production company, maybe it doesn't really matter at all.
