If there's 2 unopened cases left ($.01 and $1), is the banker actually going to call in an offer of 50 cents?
-
Its doubtful that any contestant would even go there. The contestant is likely to stop before we ever get to that point.

I don't think it's that unlikely. If $.01, $1, and $25,000 are left, the contestant could easily say "what the hell" and go for the $25,000, but then pick the $25,000 case.
Anyway, it's a hypothetical question, and I'd still like to know the answer. :)

Is it possible the banker would say "Screw it. Give him the damn dollar."?

Yeah, I think that's one possibility. Or, they might be given a consolation prize of $100, or maybe a ceramic dalmatian.

Well if it's anything like the UK show, he'll phone back and offer 35p. I suspect they will play it out.

You mean like Tuesday, where she *didn't* stop before reaching that point?
If she could do that, I fully believe that given a $X00K, $1, $.01 gameboard, someone would play on and promptly find the big money.
Yes, it's kinda part of the game that the banker calls in an offer when he's supposed to do so. Give that player the chance to cut and run with a half-dollar, and rub salt in the wound.

And herein lies the risk with casting dumbass contestants who they know will go on when they really should stop: eventually one of them will make the wrong decisions and still luck into the Big One.
