Title: A Betty White Christmas to air on Christmas Day
Post by: cmjb13 on September 26, 2005, 07:00:37 AM
Steve Beverly reports GSN will dig this marathon out of the moth balls.

I guess it's better than nothing.

Yeah, I asked and got it on my website too.  Honestly, the only thing that semi-interests me is Body Language because of how long it's been away, but it's Christmas, so no.

I think the whole thing is surprise out of left field. I would have though 'Amazing Race' has a lock on marathons now.

Is this a new marathon or something from the past?  I remember the 12 Games of Christmas, but don't remember this one.  Sounds like a good one to me!

Lineup:
12:00: What's My Line?
12:30: Password
1:00: Tattletales
1:30: Match Game
2:00: Password Plus
2:30: To Tell the Truth
3:00: Family Feud
3:30: Body Language
4:00: $100,000 Pyramid
4:30: Match Game

When and Wherefore:
MG's could feasilbly be from any of the runs GSN has, WML is from 1955 (the only year given at any point in the bit about the marathon), Password is from early on in the Nighttime run, assumedly...All that was stated about Password Plus is that it was from before Allen's death - whether that means it'll be an episode from the Ludden run prior to illness sidelining Allen in 1980, or a Kennedy-era episode from 80-81 is unclear from the article.

No info given on the timeframe for Tattletales, To Tell the Truth, or Body Language, though TTTT will probably be the 1990 version, given the fact that it's the one GSN's currently running, and she appeared with high frequency therein.

*Please Note: TTTT version is an inferrance based on the things mentioned following the word given, and is subject to...well...being wrong.

Clearly, if they're idiotic enough to think the Perfesser's site has something to do with gambling and therefore you shouldn't be able to see it, I doubt I would be, but the fact that their draconian policies happen to hit the Perfesser too is still fortunate happenstance. :)

Some fishing around for the episodes that aired for BL and TT in 00/01 produced:
BL: ALL STAR WEEK: Lucille Ball, Robert Morse, Isabel Sanford and Richard Simmons
TT:  Grant Goodeve, Bill Daily & Lynn Redgrave...others (If Betty had been in the episode, it would have been listed

Given the theme, I doubt that it'll be the same shows

The copyright date on that episode is 1983. The only way Allen participated is if a seance was held.

As per a few episode guides on the internet, Betty appeared on Body Language during the weeks of July 2, 1984 and August 27, 1984.  She and Allen appeared on four weeks of Tattletales in 1974 alone... not sure about the rest of the run.

I like $20,000 Pyramid and $25,000 Pyramid (hosted by Dick Clark not Bill Cullen). GSN should put those on the weekday schedule with $10,000 Pyramid on the weekend schedule.

W/only 3 wks of the $10K known to exist, that'd barely last 2 mos...GSN already ran through what they had on a GS Saturday Night marathon that aired back in fall 00 and those Pyramid Thursday primetime blocks they used to have in 02.

And they don't have the rights to the Cullen version, anyway, which is in Viacom's hands.

I think GSN can only air the 1986-87 season of $100K Pyramid, and no other Pyramids at this point. Those in the know can correct me on that if I'm mistaken. However, the only week of $100K Pyramid Betty did was the second week of the third season(9/14/87-9/18/87)

Chances are that they may air the "Richard, give us a smile!" episode as one of the two Match Game episodes in the afternoon during the Betty White marathon.

But what are the chances that they'll air the final segment without any interruption or interference from GSN? (that is, if they decide to air that episode at all?)

I tell ya, I am not a real big fan of the b&w but the WML and Password were awesome. The "maternity clothes" segment on WML was outrageous! I'm sure in the '50s that sort of thing was probably pushing the envelope in language for sure.

EDIT: I was busy with other xmas things and caught some of the Feud game show hosts special. Who was the african american chic that was standing between peter marshall and bert parks? What game show did she host?
