Monday's J! (9/19) will be preempted on ABC stations that carry the show at 7:30 pm ET due to a MNF doubleheader.

Rest assured that TMQ will whine and complain everytime Wheel or J! is preempted for any reason, until he is told to cut it the hell out by someone with the power to do so.

That said, moderators, on-topic or no, is it really necessary for him to do this every Monday night during football season? 'Cuz that's what's going to happen.

Is this the first time MNF has started before 8PM on the East Coast?

I believe so, but I've only been watching MNF since 1995, back when the team was Al, Frank, and Dan.  For a season they had that 8pm ET pregame show, Monday Night Blast, but it bombed because Left Coasters were still in traffic at kickoff.

ObGS: We know Frank Gifford's wife, but did you know their birthdays are on the same day--23 years apart?
