Title: Karn's Feud...BACK IN PHILLY!
Post by: pianogeek on September 10, 2005, 09:58:04 PM
According to my TiVo, it's a double-run of Karn's Feud on FOX 29, WTXF in Philadelphia.

Premieres this Monday at 11:00 - 12 Noon, competing against Barker and Company on KYW.

If I recall it's the first game show on WTXF since Brad Sherwood's "The Dating Game" and Gary Kroeger's "The Newlywed Game" back in 1996-97.  They were canned later in favor of "The Terry Bradshaw Show".

(While I'm talking about WTXF, the station aired double runs of Davidson's TNPiR on weekends only at 3 PM back in 1994-95.)

WTXF did air FOX game shows including Greed and It's Your CHance of a Lifetime, of course. WTXF aired Davidson TPIR for a few weeks weekdays at NOON in January 1995.

Didn't WTXF scuttle Davidson Price to the weekends after awhile?

It's about time a Philly station finally picked up a Karn Feud.  I think it's like 5 or 6 years since there was a FF in Philly.  I usually find it on WFMZ-TV 69 in Allentown.  Oh well, I'll settle for TPIR over FF for now.

I wonder if FOX purchased the show for its O&Os this year.  It's been 4 years since FOX purchased UPN 9 here, and ever since, Feud has been back and forth between FOX 5 and UPN 9.  Looks like FOX and Fremantle have some kind of tight business relationship.

It aired on Saturday afternoons from 3-4PM(two episodes out of five did) when there was not a sports-related preemption. It moved to weekdays at Noon in January 1995 for a few weeks.

And TPiR Davidson aired overnight on an occasional basis on my WGAL-TV during the first part of its run. So I never really knew the show existed until I was watching TV on a Saturday afternoon and caught it on Fox 29.

Fast forward to September 2005 and our WPMT (Fox, York, PA) has moved FF Karn from a double run at 1pm to a double run at 9am (to make room for a double COPS?!), which means that Fox 43 has aired the new Feud at every daytime hour from 9am to 3pm except over the noon hour.

And this was my 100th post! Woot! D0UBL3 Th3 p05T5!!!!!!111!!!!!1

Actually Craiggers, Feud was on WGTW 48 (Ind. Station) until last October when they sold their soul to Satan...errr Benny Hinn...err...

Let's see...Phillywise, Feud's been on WB 17, KYW-3, FOX 29, and WGTW 48 (I wanna say it was also on NBC 10 but I don't remember) and such since it's redebut in 1999.  The show gets no love in this market, lol.

The last time WCAU had Feud was in the early '90s when it was a CBS station. They ran the full hour of the Challenge at 10, then the syndicated 1/2 hour at 7:30.

"Feud" is on KDFI-27, a Fox station for the last few years, since coming over from KSTR-49.

WCAU did air Louie's Feud during the 1999-2000 premiere season.  It aired a single run at 10AM at first, then moved it to 11, where it became a double run.

(And by God, I just sounded like Horan in this post)

Doesn't count for much, but our FOX station WVBT had the show from the 2000 season to the first half of the 2002 season. Let's see, it aired at noon, 6 pm, 6 AM (!), then 2:30 am. The show moved to WTVZ (a former FOX affil., now WB), when it became obvious WVBT was putting a fairly successful show in a crappy timeslot. Hell, even the double run aired in the graveyard shift.

In about 5 weeks, it will be too late for that  :(

After the CBS Feud ended, the syndie Feud aired from 10-11AM in a double run on WCAU(new episode plus a rerun from a previous season) in 1993-94. The 1994-95 season ran on weekend slots at various times on WCAU(second half hour only)

Family Feud airs twice here in Las Vegas on GOLD 33, Cable 6, KFBT-TV.

I'm sure in my hometown of Durham, NC, WRDC UPN 28 currently airs Feud at 12 noon weekdays.

In Chicago, "Feud"'s back in prime time on WCIU, at 7:30 p.m. after "The Insider"--and we all know who the host on that show is.  :)  It replaces the cancelled "Celebrity Justice."

The other run remains at 9 a.m. on the U, with the umpteenth rerun of "Moral Court" as its lead-in.

If it had expanded during Karn's reign, would they have promised to DOUBLE THE RUN??! (Sorry, just had to)

It moved around a bit here in NY that first season, as well...WWOR first aired it from 10-11 AM, then they moved it to noon-1 PM, and then to 4-5 PM, where it also stayed for the 2nd season...then it briefly moved back to the noon-1 slot before WNYW picked it up sometime in Oct 01.

I missed catching any of the premiere, since WCTV in Tallahassee has gone from a double run to a single run, and moved the show a bit earlier to 9:30 AM. At least I can watch a whole episode through before heading to work, if I want.

And then when it moved to WTVZ, at first they had it in a double run from 11am-Noon opposite TPiR (on CBS affil. WTKR).  In the fall of 2003, they moved it to 5pm-6pm.  Then they moved it back to 11am-Noon when Ryan Seacrest's ill-fated talk show arrived on the scene.  Then they had it from Noon-1pm for the first half of last season.  Finally, after that, they moved it back to 11am-Noon for the third time and have kept it there for this season.

So, it looks like Philly is not the only market where Feud has to compete with TPiR this season.

And I've been waiting a long time since I got here to say this, but this marks my 100th post here!  Yay!  Finally!

Congratulations. It took 100 posts for the majority of this board to ascertain that you are a complete and utter ninny.

You must be so proud.
