My recollection from personal observation of the Match Game (entry #44) music logs is that the composer was listed as "N. Maaskoff".
Also from personal observation of the TPIR music logs, the composer of many TPIR cues was listed as "B. Kalehoff".

I'm guessing #1 was the two William Shatner hosted specials from '84 and '85 as they were on ABC, they used the same theme track.
Is #3 the recent NBC clip fests?

Goodson went through a period where he wasn't using Edd Kalehoff's musical services. This period ended with Trivia Trap in 1984. One wonders whether Beverly and Edd collaborated on the 1984 ABC specials.
We know that today Mr. Kalehoff is married to his second wife, Andrea McArdle.

Talking out my ass, but would this have started in the late-70s, around 78 or 79? It seems like Kalehoff liked to do a lot of synthesized arrangements (case in point, Trivia Trap), and some of Goodson's late-70s music seemed to be more live instrumentation instead of synthesized (i.e. Mindreaders, Password Plus, TTTT80).
Again, all speculation, and I'm prolly way off.

You're on the mark. If Kalehoff was involved you knew his MOOG synthesizer wasn't far behind. Double Dare debuted in 1976 and featured a synthesizer. Then came:
The Better Sex - 1977
Card Sharks (Double Dare music) - 1978
Spellbinders pilot - 1978
Password Plus - 1979
Mindreaders - 1979
All New Beat the Clock (live music) - 1979
Puzzlers pilot (Mindreaders music) - 1980
TTTT - 1980
That's My Line - Bob Cobert - 1980

Tattletales - 1982
All of these were orchestral and did not feature synth.

Did Goodson have a contract with Score or just a preference for their themes? (Without going too far down a tangent, the same question also applies to Barry & Enright/Hal Hidey and Bob Stewart/Bob Cobert.)

In Goodson's case it was preference.
Some time in the '80s, Goodson made Stan Blits music supervisor for the entire company, not just TPIR. Stan worked some other artists into the mix.

If indeed that is referring to those specials, it's probably referring to the use of a couple game show themes in the special (Price and Tattletales 82 come to mind). Often when cues are used in other shows like that, they have to be filed a second time with BMI or ASCAP or whatever other agency. For example, the episode of Laverne & Shirley in which they went on The Dating Game used the actual music from the show. Therefore, Chuck Barris is credited with having written "Laverne & Shirley BG Cues".

IIRC, the Shatner specials aired in the early 80's, pre-dating by a few years the only game show Music Design Group did for Goodson, "Blockbusters". So MDG probably did the theme for the Shatner specials.

Question 2 about synth vs. orchestra: Did Goodson think that orchestra sounded better for a game show, or was it a throwback to the live music era (50s and 60s)?

If MDG did compose that theme, I don't know if they composed it specifically for those specials. I'm positive it's the same theme Bob Stewart used for two of his pilots, "The Riddlers" and "Caught in the Act" (1975).

I never heard him express an opinion one way or the other. Clearly he was pleased with both synth and non-synth. For Narz Concentration, which was done on a slim budget, he had to be pleased with the economy-class music package which consisted only of MOOG, bass guitar and percussion. OTOH he was willing to pay for full orchestration for TPIR cues, P+, Mindreaders, etc. Either Goodson, Israel or both must have realized that game show music needs "punch". It needs to be a little shrill to cut through applause and announce -- that's why you hear so much trumpet/flugelhorn, flute and MOOG. In the original TPIR package there is a lot of nuance you don't hear because the strings, harp and rhythm guitar got buried in the mix.
In the beginning, G-T shows used fairly forgettable recorded library music. The prize music for Cullen TPIR was downright dull. Then Bob Cobert came along with his music for TPIR, TTTT and Password, and "A Swingin' Safari" was used for The Match Game. Next, Bob Israel/Score Productions came along with their music for He Said, She Said and syndicated WML? The music then shifted into high gear when Edd and Beverly Kalehoff came along with their work for TPIR and Tattletales.

And the "blooper" in that (if you will) is that they used some of the late '70s cues, which was either still in production at the time, or had just ended production. "Laverne and Shirley" was set in the mid '60s by that time. Oh well...I guess only us "purists" would ever notice :)

Three years on I've had a "whaddya know?" moment. Various sources list "Marlyn Dorren Hall" as a composer of various pieces of game show music. Leave it to Google to set me straight. I entered "Marlyn Dorren Hall" and it asked me if I meant "Marilyn Doreen Hall". I clicked on the link and learned that Marilyn is actress Joanna Gleason's mother, which would make her Mrs. Monty Hall. Whaddya know? Here is her discography on TVPMM:
