Title: Product placement
Post by: The Pyramids on July 23, 2005, 10:56:16 AM
I think 'Feud' was just reruns this month.

Was that Pizza Hut logo on one of yesterdays shows behind the podiums a new, unwelcome feature from late this past season?

(I can ask the same about the checkered flooring but that was okay, esp. if it is a preamble to larger set changes).

There was a Pizza Hut Day a while back that featured a prize of a year's worth of pizza, I think.  It was part of just a special episode/episodes, not a permanent set change.

I also seem to recall that the set changes were left up for a few episodes after the Pizza Hut promotion ended.  It was probably one of those episodes that you saw.

It's interesting, but hardly worth getting anyone excited. Just watch the black and whites and you'll see product placement that puts this to shame.

[/quote]Yeah, I'd wait until the commercial time was reduced to 2 minutes or so, like back then.

One could go both ways on this subject.  A logo on the set or a bottle of Stopette silhouette on John Charles Daly's cards (or Garry Moore handing a contestant a carton of Winstons, for that matter) is nothing compared to when I was at the MT&R and viewing the really needy, really desperate "Strike It Rich" contestant hanging on to her box of Fab detergent for dear life.  Now that's creepy.
